I just bought a brand new HP 8500A all in one printer and it printed out a test page during the calibration/installation stage of the setup and after installation it now says install cartridges. I have taken them out and put them back in and turned the printer off, waited 20 seconds and then turned it on again but it still says install cartridges. I am using the sample cartridges that came with the printer.

There's good chance they are not the right ones.

Shop assistants are not all that keyed up on their products.

The 8500 Non Wireless Cartridges will "NOT" work in the A909 Wireless.

Yes they look the same and yes they will fit in the compartment, the "CHIP" is differant.

Good old HP.

Shop around online for cheap suppliers but make sure you only buy HP A909 Cartridges.

Peter.

How do one correct print quality in hp color laser jet 2600n

Hi Good day!!
Follow this method hope it helps you!!

During the printing process, paper, toner and dust particles can accumulate inside the printer. Over time, this buildup can cause print-quality problems such as toner specks or smearing. This printer has a cleaning mode that can correct and prevent these types of problems.
This printer has two processes for generating cleaning pages: one is automatically generated and one is manually generated. When a new black print cartridge is installed, a cleaning page will be automatically generated prior to calibration.
Clean the fuser using HP Toolbox
NOTE: Use the following procedure to clean the fuser using the HP Toolbox. To clean the engine when the computer is running an operating system that does not support HP Toolbox, see the late-breaking Readme on the root of the CD-ROM, or visit http://www.hp.com/support/clj2600n .

1 Make sure that the printer is turned on and in the Ready state.

2 Open the HP Toolbox using one of the following methods.
*
On the Windows desktop, double-click the HP Toolbox icon.
* On the Windows Start menu, click Programs (All Programs in Windows XP), click HP , click HP Color LaserJet 2600n, and then click HP Color LaserJet 2600n Toolbox .

3 Click the Troubleshooting tab, and then Troubleshooting Tools .
4 Click the Print button next to step 1, "Click the "Print" button to print out the Cleaning Page."

5 Remove the Cleaning Page from the output bin, and load it printed side down in Tray 1.

6 Click the Clean button to complete the cleaning process. Press the GO button on the printer control panel. The Cleaning page will print, with a second page adhered to the first page. This is normal behavior during the cleaning process.

Cleaning spilled toner
Defective print cartridges can develop leaks. Also, after a paper jam has occurred, some toner might remain on the rollers and guides inside the printer. The pages that print immediately after the jam can pick up this toner.
CAUTION: When cleaning the printer, do not touch the ETB with a damp cloth or with fingers.
Cleaning the paper path
The device features a special cleaning mode to clean the paper path.
NOTE: If there is access to HP Toolbox, HP recommends cleaning the paper path by using HP Toolbox.
Clean the paper path

1. Use the (LEFT ARROW) or the (RIGHT ARROW) button to select Service, and then press (SELECT).

2. Use the (LEFT ARROW) or the (RIGHT ARROW) button to select Cleaning Mode, and then press (SELECT).
A page feeds through the printer slowly. Discard the page when the process is completed.

3. Load plain letter or A4 paper when prompted.

4. Press (SELECT) again to confirm and begin the cleaning process.
A page feeds through the printer slowly. Discard the page when the process is completed.

Calibrating the printer
Calibrations are performed at regular intervals. For best print quality, a calibration can be performed from the control panel using the following steps:
NOTE: This will calibrate the color and clean the black electrostatic transfer belt (ETB).

1 Use the (LEFT ARROW) or the (RIGHT ARROW) button to select System setup and then press (SELECT).

2 Use the (LEFT ARROW) or the (RIGHT ARROW) button to select Print quality and then press (SELECT). Calibrate color will display on the control panel.

Press (SELECT).

3 Use the (LEFT ARROW) or the (RIGHT ARROW) button to select Calibrate now and then press (SELECT).

HP Photosmart C7100 - only 10% of page printer

If your printer does not print the entire page, it is probably because the print head is clogged. Try going to print preferences and locate "maintenance". Find the "clean print head" option and click on it. Follow the instructions. You might have to do it several times, and that will use a lot of your ink, but it might do the trick!
As for the "printer can't get calibrate", that is refers to your print head. That has nothing to do with your cartridges, as they are just tanks with ink in it. Check this link, might help:

HP C4380, Wireless Printing Problem

Do you have other printer drivers installed, if so thre may be a driver conflict. wireless printing requires network connection and also printer drivers. This appears to be a driver issue since the printer shows up on the network. I would try reinstalling the drivers.

Prints test page every time the printer is turned on

This might be an alignment page. To get it to stop, you will have to go through the alignment and new cartrige setup in the hp software. This should be located under Start/All Programs/HP folder. I'm not sure what the software would be called but it should be easy to do if you have the HP software installed. Hope this helps!
