On this model of washer you have 4 separate components that could cause overflowing. The water valve, pressure switch, pressure switch hose & the air dome. If you have to turn the water off to prevent overflowing, I would recommend replacing the water valve. If you can turn the timer off & the water stops overflowing, I would recommend checking the pressure switch, hose & air dome.

I have a Maytag Centennial top load washer. When washing in normal or heavy with large or super load size, the washer remains in sensing mode. Some water does start to fill, but never reaches wash cycle....

This unit does not handle a super large load as it advertised. When you put a super large load, the sensor is over-sized and will not move on the next cycle.

Washer agitates so vigorously water sloshes out of the overflow tube on large, extra large and super cycles. Tub slams back an forth on agitate cycle is this normal?

sounds like to much water check diaphram switch this controls the amont of water taken in this is not normal operation also check that the drum dampers are working ok or have not come adrift, when empty if you was to push the drum back and forth you should feel quite a bit of resistance if it moves easly then i would check the dampers

GE WJRR4170 washer comes out of overflow tube on super load. It does not on Large load size. I have the front off and can see a large difference in water level from large to super size. Is this adjustable?

I have a 2005 model GE washer that would overfill only on SUPER size load. After looking around on the web, then inside the machine, I checked the tube from the tub to the switch, no problem there. Then I found an adjustment screw on the load size selector / pressure switch (all one piece). I moved it one turn clockwise, then ran a test cycle. I got lucky on the first try... no more overflow, the water comes up just above the top holes in the tub. I hope this will help others.

Overflowed on Large load size

i think the water level sensor tube got filled when you had it on it's side, then after the first spin and drain cycle, the tube was again cleared out and ready for real action.
