Hello, I was just given a Kitchenaid Superba side by side refrigerator/freezer. I can't find the serial number, but it looks like the picture I saw for this refrigerator (KSR525IL). I plugged it in last evening, and It worked (all night I think?!?...it was cold inside of it this morning). I was standing there with the door open, to put things in it, and the control panel lights went off and with that, the refrigerator stopped running. Then trying to get it to run (unplugging and re-plugging it in, pushing temperature buttons up and down, pushing the on and off button) but nothing happened. Just standing there not actually doing anything at the moment, it would come back on for a couple of minutes, then go off. ...and right now it's off and wont come back on. Help please, Thanks

SOURCE: Ice machine works great, but will not dispense

I just repaird a unit with this same symptom. Yours may be the same. The plastic part that holds the switch was broken (pins). See the diagram at http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Whirlpool/KAZVHYR3.gif Item 15 is the part. The switch sets on a coupld pins and the pins break easily, thus the switch falls off and the dispensor lever can't operate it. If you look up inside with a flashlight you can see the switch, etc. and should be able to tell if it's held in place properly.

SOURCE: Kitchen Aid Ice maker Stopped working

I would suggest not buying a KitchenAid. I have the same problem with my ice maker. Have had nothing but problems with every KitchenAid product that I have ever owned. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product.

All of there appliances are second rate. That is "The KitchenAid Difference"

SOURCE: Kitchenaid refrigerator w/bottom freezer french doors

please check the air flow to the refrigerator side. it could be a stuck damper motor or damper thermostat. if the fan inside the freezer is running, you should be able to feel cold air coming out off the vents in the refrigerator side. you might have to press the button light switch on the panels to run the fan.

The ice maker has stopped working. The red led light blinks when the freezer door is opened. Any thoughts?

KitchenAid Superba KSRG25FK Side by Side-where is the arm of the ice maker?

Hello ksraine,

I understand that you are looking for the arm on your ice maker. I believe you are talking about the ice makers that have the little wire arm that goes up and down as it makes ice to know when to stop making ice. The ice maker that you currently have installed on you side-by-side does not have the wire arm. Here is a picture of a complete ice maker that is factory installed on your unit -justinbur167.jpg Thank you for choosing FixYa.com

I am thinking on buying a used refrigerator. It's a KitchenAid Superba black side by side. Water and ice on door. This is the serial #4176358945 I can't locate it anywhere on the kitchenaid site. How...

Good day,
Thoughts on buying a used refrigerator.
1. Can you see the machine running at normal temperatures. That is, the freezer should be at 0 to 4 degrees and the food compartment at 34 to 39 degrees.(You'll need a thermometer) If not, have it corrected or walk away.
2. Does it it cycle on and off. It should be running 30 to 70 percent of the time. If any more than the high number, either have the problem corrected, or walk away.
3. Does it make ice, dispense it, and does the water delivery system work. Although sometimes easily corrected, repairs can become very pricey.
4. Can you transport it without the machine being layed on it's side? This is critical to the compressor.
5. Parts? If you have the model number as well, with both, call any large appliance parts house. Ask if they can order the bottom crisper drawer for the fresh food side. If yes, then your O.K.

Either the inlet valve is stuck or the icemaker solenoid is shored.

Most likely the second one.
