It is most likely the hose. There are wires inside the hose that connect the speed and suction control on the handle, to the board inside the canister. After years of use, the wires can become damaged to the point that they wont complete the circuit anymore. Any vacuum store that sells miele will have the replacement hose. You can also get it from miele directly, or off ebay. Be careful going to the vacuum store if you dont have a trusted shop, as they make more money from the sale of a new vacuum, rather than a replacement hose.
Stars will always appear as points. It is not possible to magnify them enough to see them as disks because they are all extremely far away. A telescope will however show you stars and other objects that are too dim to see with the naked eye.
You will be able to see the planets as disks, and even features on the planets, such as the bands on Jupiter, the rings of Saturn and the phases of Venus, and also moons around some planets. There are other objects that will show more detail when magnified, such as nebula. You will be able to see a lot of craters and other detail on the Moon.
Your problem is simply that you are not pointing the telescope at these objects. This seems to be one of those telescopes that "automatically" finds objects, but these so called "go to" scopes only do this when they are set up properly. I can't say what step(s) you have missed, but clearly even if the scope thinks it is pointed at the moon, if you can't see the moon, it is NOT pointed there. The Moon will fill the field of view even with the least powerful eyepiece. If you are seeing stars as points, then the eyepiece is focussed and working properly.

The scope does not need computer software to operate. However, you will find the free software above very helpful in learning the sky. Color filters are really NOT very useful; only the moon filter is needed which you can buy from the retailer listed above.
Actual proprietary parts like the accessory tray must be bought directly from Galileo telescopes. But a hardware store will have springs and bolts and nuts.
what i would do is call around and ask if they show a town car with a moon roof and that way you can look at it and if it a self serve yard you can take the part out you need and at the same time learn how to repair your.
yes, you can insert any size you want don't be belittle by the inorent poeple in sales stores they will tell anyone anything just to make a buck.... lala linda i would suggest trying an 80 g it will prombally will do what you need untill you learn more about computers ok lala linda
