Dryer modle Tc7102w/t5c7102s was working ok but drum won't rotate

Theres two things to look at, the brushes on the motor, replaceable and cheap, if they are are healthy then there is one or sometimes two large capacitors, these give the motor the ooomf to get it rotating, these fail which is a common problem with washing machines and dryers, again about £5= on ebay.

Zanussi tc7102w made normal noise when I turned it on, but did not rotate and had a burning smell coming from it. Turned it off and unplugged it immediately. Any ideas? Wendy

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, Or the belt may have come off of the idler arm, or motor.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would also recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:
http://www.partselect.com/
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

ZANUSSI TD4212W drum does'nt turn, heat works any ideas?

with top off and machine in operation, try giving the drum a push by hand. if it starts to rotate and continues to rotate, then the fault is with the motor capacitor - cheap part
and of course, with the top off, check the belt is in position and not broken

Making an electrical noise, but drum not turning. Sounds like it's shorting.

I'd suggest - remove the top cover. Switch on. Push the drum around - see if the drum picks up speed and continues to run. If this happens, it means that the motor Starter capacitor has gone dud and will need replacing. Note- If the drum doesn't continue to rotate after you shove it, switch off immediately. It will likely then be a faulty motor.
