The Optio S4 works with MMC and SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible. You need to go with cards 2GB and smaller.

Hi, have this camera and still use it, The camera only takes SD cards and Not SDHC, it will use SD cards up to 4 GB but the camera format the card DOWN to 1GB and will work OK, If you format the card back up to 4GB in Windows and put it in the camera and turn it on you you will see that you can take over 1000 pic's but it will fail to save you first picture saying format error, and formatting the card again in the camera again will but it back to 1GB again, I use 1GB 2GB and 4GB without any problems, and you can still get 4GB SD cards on the net. so it's realy on a 1GB card camera hope this helps.

What card reader do i need for a pentax optio in windows seven

It depens what typ of memory do you use, Sd or MMC card. SD is the most common card and almost every multiple card reader can read it.
Check what type of memory card do you use in your camera and according to that by/borrow memory card reader.

Memory card Sandisk 4GB gives error memory card

The S50 uses SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card, and will not work in the S50. You will have to confine your choices to cards 2GB and smaller.

Inserting either a 4Gb or 8Gb SD card results in a "Memory Card Error".

The S4 accepts SD and MMC cards. SD cards max out at 2Gb. The 4Gb and 8Gb cards are actually SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards, not SD cards, and thus will not work in devices designed for SD cards. Compatibility goes only one way--SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.

Memory card

Hi and welcome to FixYa.

Your camera will not work with an SDHC card. It must be an SD card.
Don't forget to format the card in the camera after you install it. Elsewise it won't work properly.

Thanks for coming to FixYa, and feel free to rate my solution.

Largest capacity SD card for Pentax Optio S5N

The maximum supported size is most likely 2GB SD Card. Cards with 4GB and more are following a new (incompatible) standard called SDHC (SD High Capacity), SDHC cards work only in devices specifically supporting SDHC. The Optio S5N uses the old SD standard where 2GB are the maximum size.

USB Connection problem Optio S4

have you turned the camera ON after connecting the cables? Next, does this USB port on the computer work with other USB devices such as memory sticks? My O555 has a USB socket that feels really "fragile" and I fear I will damage the socket with improper insertion (alignment seems touchy). I bought an external USB card reader and am really happy with that. You don't use up battery power transferring your files. Much better solution, IMO.
