The cmos jumper is on the mother board, usallyl close to the cmos battery. Normal settings are on or off (CLEAR) Be sure you know what the settings are suppose to be before reseting the cmos snf sldo how to reset them. you should turn the machine off and unplug the power supply. You can go to hp web site and look at the documention for your machine, Also be very careful not to unplug anything by accident.

I can't find the jumper on my dell inspiron b130

Hi,what type of jumpers do you mean? if you want to clear your bios you can use jumpers calls "CLR-MOS" or "CL-ms" or "cms_clr" that it means CLEAR CMOS or CLEAR MOS (stands for mosfet transistors built in mother board eeprom" you can clear it this way:
shutdown the pc or laptop find the jumper pull the backup battery up use a screw driver or an iron pin to short the jumpers together(if you dont find the jumpers after pulling up the battery short the battery+- together) wait 10 sec and then pull in the battery after that you have to go to your bios setting and set some data if you dont you may see errors like this in your screen before windows start up:
"DMI POOL DATA CHANGED" PRESS F1 TO continue" or something like that;
and if you dont know the bios setting ask from experts to do it for you because this setting is too dangerous and may harm your hardware,if you dont know dont touch it,
and one more thing:
if you mean another jumpers?dont touch it because some mother boards use jumpers for their settings or you may harm your hardware
kind regards

What are the important of c mos bios jumper in the computer???????

Normal operation is in the default position.

When you move it to the other (non-default) position, it clears all CMOS data- the hard drive types, date/time, security features, DVD/CD drive info, advanced BIOs features, etc.

All the settings will return to factory default.

You do not run your computer with the jumper in the CLEAR CMOS position- it is used to reset the CMOS when power is off.

To use your computer, this jumper must be in the default position.

I have a dell inspiron e1505. i have taken out the mother board but caint find the jumper or cmos chip can you tell me where it is and what it looks like.

There may not be a jumper. Most laptops have the CMOS battery soldered to the motherboard and the only way to reset it is through the bios screen.

CHANGED CPU SPEED ON MOTHER BOARD "FOXCONN 661M08-FX-6LS" AND NOW KEEPS BEEPING. CAN I RESET MOTHER BOARD. THANX

Yes you can reset it, just make sure you unplug the computer before doing it...
Open the left sidepanel and either look for the clear cmos jumper and switch it to the other pin for 10 secs, or you can remove the cmos battery for 10 secs

CMOS checksum bad 0085

the problem might lie in the fact that the mother board and cpu cannot be handled at the speed

or it requires the jumpers to be set by so that the cpu can be clocked properly if you got a mother board spec guide follow the guide for *********** board to set up 3.2

you might also have to set the bios to the cpu speed cause if mother board doesnt do jumpers no more the setting would be in bios
hit the delete key direct are power up this will take you to bios
its not the battery

Password for 486

Remove the battery from the mother board.
Jumper the CMOS to discharge it. You may
want to check you Mother Board manual, to
see which jumper it is. Some require you to
turn the Mother Board BACK ON for two seconds. (It will NOT come up, just will
discharge the CMOS and the battery will NOT
be there to replace the energy, so everything
is GONE. You will know if you have done it right, when
you boot up again, the BIOS will NOT recognize the hard disk (need to set it up
again), the date will be wrong (set it up again also) and the floppy drive will not
be recognized (new setup). But then try your password. It should let
you right in then. Let me know if it works. Best Regards, PS Make sure you have the right mother
board jumpers to discharge the CMOS, YOU
CAN DO DAMAGE ALSO, if they are not the
right ones.
