I just put a new 9 cell battery, two new 2GB ram cards & a new, blank hard drive in our Dell Inspiron 1525. But the screen does not seem to work when I turn it on, or after I put in an installation disk(OS or MediaDirect). The hard drive crashed and burned making the new hard drive necessary. We decided to increase the RAM and replace the battery with one that will hopefully hold a charge. Where should we go from here to try and solve the display issue? I recall no issues with the display before the hard drive died.

We now know the issue was with the new RAM cards. The ones we bought were listed as compatible with our machine, but they clearly are not. Where does one go from here? Could the fact that the old RAM is 1GB 2Rx16 and the new ones are 2 GB2Rx8 be the problem? We are learning as we go.

Remove the battery, and connect the AC power. Then, try to start it.

Disconnect the AC power, and remove the "new" disk-drive.
Then, connect the AC power, and try to start it.

Disconnect the AC power. Remove the "new" RAM, and put the "old" RAM back in.
Then, connect the AC power, and try to start it.

If it does start, add the "new" disk-drive, and try again.

If it does start, add the "new" RAM, and try again.

Back to where you purchased the RAM, taking your Dell with you, to exchange the non-compatible RAM with RAM that you can "test" at the store, to verify the compatibility.

Dell Inspiron N5030 refuses to boot. When it is turned on, the ON LED light stays on for a minute & goes off. There is no display on the screen. But when it is plugged to A/C, it stays on for a while...

The first thing to check for is loose ram, battery, a loose hard drive or any loose cards.
Pop the cover off the bottom, reseat the ram battery and hard drive and try booting again.

If that does not work try booting off a copy of Puppy linux on a live CD. Puppy runs only in ram and will allow you to bypass a bad hard drive to get a system running. Puppy also has system testing tools that you can check your hard drive with.

I cant put inspiron 1525 back together

It could be that you have not insert the memory sticks in correctly this can result in not screen.
1. check to see if you have the memory sticks seated in their slots correctly.
2. remove the hard drive and re - insert it into the hard drive slot.

from these errors, the hard drive is full and the system is out of virtual memory which is gotten from the pagesys, you need to get a new drive,, a blue screen is crash if you have a windows OS

Dell Inspiron 1525 has black screen and blue lock icons are active, with centre(of three) flashing.

Remove all Drives, battery, RAM and wireless cards, see if anything changes, if not replace the motherboard. If error changes, add 1 RAM module back and see if system POSTS. If it doesn't , try the other module, if still no go, replace motherboard. If you do get a change, add items back until you ID the failed item.

HP Pavillion dv6700 - black screen

Do the following without the battery inserted.

Let the computer sit with no battery for 24 hours. Do not put the battery in at all. Try using your original memory stick ONLY, with no hard drive and see if it will POST. If it does, insert the hard drive and try again. Could be the new memory...

Another thing you can try is reseating the processor. Turn the ZIF screw, take the processor out (WATCH THE PINS!!) and put back in GENTLY. Leave the memory in the computer, hard drive removed, try to power on.

These models have been known for bad motherboards. Contact HP and arrange to send it in. If you do enough digging on HPs website, you'll find the service advisory.
