Hi,

The voicemail on my iPhone 3G doesn't work. I click on the voicemail button in the bottom-right of the screen, but nothing happens.

Thanks for helping.

I am having the same voicemail problem on my 3G.  I tried to call my number but it just gives the message of "the voicemail has not been set up" and then it hangs up.  What do I do?

Had the same problemwith my iPhone 3G this is how I fixed it -

1) From the iPhone 3G, I called my own iPhone 3G number.
2) Went through the setup. After finishing the ssetup Hang off the iPhone 3G.
3) Then the voicemail button on the iPhone 3G worked - first time, there was a **** pause, it asked me to enter my voicemail password that I had set in step 2, and that's it.

Good luck.

*5005*86*-------#
Then follow instructions. The seven blanks are for your phone number. NO AREA CODE.
After everything else had failed, this worked! Weird!! I had even gone through the voice prompts by calling my own phone number, and it said my voicemail was now setup!
But when I used this method, the voicemail button called my phone number. I had to hit * in the middle of the message which said my voicemail was not setup, and then I just followed instructions.
After I hung up, it took about 2 minutes, and then my iPhone said, "Voicemail password is incorrect" and prompted me to re-enter it. After I did so (entering the password that I had just used on the message prompt), everything was hunky dory again!

Solution 2 needed a little modification before it worked for me.
Instead of:
*5005*86*-------# where -----  is your mobile number try using your voicemail number instead for the ---.
I am with Vodafone and used 121, it worked perfectly.

How do I retrieve my voicemail?

Well, if it's an iPhone I may be able to help :) once you delete a voicemail from your log, it'll go to deleted messages. Scroll to the bottom of your voicemails for the deleted messages button and there you can retrieve all deleted voicemails. Now, if you deleted your voicemail from there too, then your best bet would be calling your phone company and see if they could possibly retrieve it. Again, this is for an iPhone, I'm not sure how it works on any other device. Hope that helps! :)
