Toshiba TDP-P5, used unit. Startup image comes up ok. When PC is hooked up, the image does does not change from startup. Cables test okay on other projectors, the video port on the PC is working ok on with other projectors. I've tried resetting to factory image and no luck. When I select MENU --> SETUP --> PICTURE, I get the message "Not available without a valid source. This has happened when hooked up to different PCs and with more than one cable. Any suggestions on what the cause/solution is?

I selected the source/select button using more than one cable. The "searching" box appeared in the lower left corner for 10 seconds, then the Toshiba "choose freedom" default screen came back up. I've tried selecting "reset" in through the Menu and no luck as well.

Try pushing the source/select button to make the projector look for a source. It is the button that looks like a bent arrow right in the middle of the 4 arrow buttons.

The only other thing I can think of is that most projectors have a native resolution of 1025 x 768. Most of those will recognize and project at higher resolutions, but some won't. You might try lowering the resolution of your laptop to see if that helps. I'm sorry, but I can't think of anything else.

Unit should startup/shutdown faster now.

You could also use this method to change the images to your own personalized startup/shutdown pics. Just copy over your pics, and name them to the same names of the images that were on the tomtom.

Toshiba TDP-S20 lamp problem

The lamp ballast which ignites the lamp has failed it sounds like. The red flashing lamp is the tell tale sign with a good lamp installed. Make sure the lamp door is closed too, there is a door switch that can also trigger the red lamp and no startup. There is a company in San Diego CA that can repair the unit called PROJECTOR DOCTOR

Startup takes forever.....at least a good 5 minutes

Hi Lynne

You may remove unnecessary startup items by using MSCONFIG utility. You may keep only Toshiba Touchpad utility and Essential security programs. Perform maintenance like using Disk clean up and disk error checking. Also using the performance settings definitely will create significant change. If you need further assistance you may post again I will reply asap.

Good Luck
