I'm afraid Whatsapp is not supported on BADA OS- which your phone has and they don't have any plans of developing for samsung phones running on BADA OS.
Samsung Wave S8500 runs on a Bada Operating system. As far as I know, there is no skype program released yet for the Bada OS. A skype program compatible with Bada should be created for it to work on your phone.
