This is how AUDIO works in HDMI setup, you can select the source to send the digital audio along with the digital video through HDMI, the receiving end HDMI sound setup must be set to receive the digital audio through HDMI. Otherwise the audio may be sent and received through analog audio ports (Red (Right channel) and White (Left channel) RCA jacks) in stead. Most of the new TV and DVD player use auto detection.
So please check the HDMI audio setup to see how the audio signals are set to be processed.
Please leave rating if it helps.
There is no menu option to view/setup the HDMI audio that I can find on the LD4088. Where should this be? I have looked at the Audio menu several times and there is nothing there specific to this.
Oh, and I know the PS3 is set to send audio via HDMI.
OK, I download the user manual and as far as I can tell, this TV will only allow digital audio only, not analog audio (no analog audio inputs for each HDMI port).
Try this same cable with another TV, otherwise it can be HDMI problem or compatibilty problem. Please keep us posted if you solve the problem. You may have to contact APEX. http://www.apexdigitalinc.com
Well, that is an important info to know that it was working before, so now it has HDMI processing failure.
I wonder if the EPROM gets scrambled by the voltage spikes and surges since the microprocessor is always running 24/7 even when the TV is off. May try pugging into good AC line conditioner to see if it helps or it can be that the DC in the power supply is getting bad due to dying caps. We will see, just keep us posted so, thanks.
I have the same problem with my LD4088. First the HDMI2 connector stopped producing sound, then the HDMI1 did the same thing about 3 weeks later. I've replaced cables, satellite box and have called APEX customer support 3 times. The last time I called, I was told "because you are outside of your 1 yr warranty (by 2 months) we do not have to help you and there is nothing we can do for you. Take your tv to a repair center and see if they can resoulder the wire that has obviously come loose. Good luck and have a nice day.
I have also tried turning off the master power and then unplugging the tv for various amounts of time, 15 mins, 2 hours and overnight. Nothing has worked.
I am open for additional suggestions as well, as I am concerned that when the HDMI3 goes, I am left with nothing but a huge wall hanging.
I am having the EXACT same problem on both of my APEX LD4088! I am now on HDMI port 3 on both TV's, hoping that the last doesn't go, or we have to get new TV's! We've had the TV's since end of November 2010, so less than 2 years. However, the problem started pretty quick on one TV. I will try unplugging the main power source for a few hours and see what happens, but I believe we already tried that. I will NEVER buy another APEX TV or product if I have a choice.
I've had the same issue, HDMI 1 went first no sound, and now # 2...and of course it happens the day after the warranty. Never getting Apex again

Had used two different HDMI cables and neither worked. I did try one of the cables on a different TV and it worked.
Also - as far as a compatibility issue. I don't think this is it. This *had* been working for over a month from both the PS3 and from the Dish box. It just stopped late last week one day...
I turned the master power off and unplugged the TV for about 1.5 hours. Plugged it back in, started up the PS3 and, wah la, sound via HDMI. Obviously there is a software bug in the TV which was reset by removing power. We will see how long it lasts.... Thanks for the help budmrtn.
