Security lites won,t shut off have to disconnect battery

It could be many things, and I tend to favour the security system after a battery disconnect. Is the security light on?

The rear gate is the rear door at the back of the vehicle..Open and shut it to make sure it is latched...Then wear safety glasses disconnect negative battery cable to clear codes ..reconnect then try to start it..You shouldn't have the code once gate is shut however disconnecting the battery will erase all codes...Also make sure both battery cables are tight....

the system is either hooked to the battery or it has a fuse try disconnecting them

No it wont. But disconnecting the battery or running it completely dead can. When the battery is disconnected the cars security goes into theft mode. I believe on yours you have to lock all the doors from the inside lock button, then shut the door. use your keys to unlock the door, put the keys in the igntion and turn it on, dont start it. wait for the light to go out. if it doesn't then start it after a minute or two..

Try this. Lock and unlock the tail gate with the key and see if it will start. The battery must be hooked uo when this procedure is followed. Whenever the battery is disconnected, the security circuit shuts the ignition down.
When you hook up any battery, make certain that you connect the positive battery cable first and negatvie (ground) second.

you can disconnect the Battery and when the battery is disconnected ..now turn on your head lites ... Wait a min or two then shut off head lites re connect battery ... try starting car this will reset you computer in car ...

turn the key to the on position and pump the gas 4-5 times, this should help. My mom has a 03 silverado wich also done this and I contacted a dealer and they gave me this solution and it worked.

If you disconnect the battery for 1 minute and reconnect it the check engine lite will reset. when you start your vehicle again the lite shouldn't be on unless the problem is still present. If the problem is still there the lite will come on again and you should take it in to a shop and have it diagnosed for engine codes and see what the problem is.
Try disconnecting the battery first though before you go spending great amounts of money on something that was probably just a minor glitch in the computer.
