Recently I have encountered the neverending Scanner Bulb Warming Up message -- and have had to turn off the printer and let it rest. I have also run the menu/* key to restore totally. Is there actually a scanner bulb that I can replace? (fyi, I do not see any appearance of dirt on the long white strip that appears underneath the glass.) Thanks! B.
I have the same problem and it seems that the only way to fix this is to replace the scanner bulb. The problem is that, as far as I can tell, the bulb comes as part of the scanner assembly - and so you have to replace the whole scanner assembly. It is quite expensive - 200 to 300 dollars Canadian. There are whole machines available for $300.00 though so is it worth repairing if one cannot just buy the bulb? Ger.

Had a similar problem on a HP MFC3330
Fixed it with the following video aid:
"how to fix the scanner bulb warming up error hp 3330 or repair 3380 scanner bulb warm up problem - YouTube" http://youtu.be/lqG_nmi3vC4
I found this solution at HP website. It worked for me. Good luck!
A Scanner Bulb Error message is received as a result of the HP LaserJet 3300mfp series product scanner’s inability to find the home reference point.
SOLUTION:
Perform the following steps to walk the scan assembly from the home base and resolve the issue.
1. Remove and replace the power cord from the unit.
2. Wait approximately 35 seconds for the scanning assembly to “walk out" and then quickly remove the plug again.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, three to four times until the head moves approximately 1 inch away from its normal resting place.
4. Replace the plug and let the product fully finish the boot cycle.
the cables connected internally to the scanner unit had gone short some where in between you have to check it manually by opening the device .and then remove the cables and replace them with a same length cable.you can get the cables from any electronic shop who keeps printer assessories.
Hi,
The warming Up messge usually occures when the scanner bulb is not getting heat up for the correct temprature or the scanne bulb might be defective..
To resolve this issue follow the below instructions..
First connect the printr directly to a wall outlet as some times surge protectors will not provide the required power for the printer then this message can come up.
Once the printer is directly connected to the wall outlet try to turn on the printer and check with the issue..
If the issue presists try the instructions in the below webpage..
