Video Management File is Broken

I've been having this happen over the past several months. When I poke the "yes" for recovery, the camera begins working again, but not without losing what i was recording. The last time it did it was when I was moving files over to the computer harddrive. I had about 5 or 6 more files to go and the Video Management File is Broken message came up. Did the recovery and the remaining files were gone off the camera and not transfered to the harddrive.
It seems to happen when it's been recording or removing files for any length of time. For example, my husband's in a band. When they play I record each song separately so I'll have a separate file. On one of the longer songs I got to the last approximately 30 seconds of the song and the Video Mgt. error came up, had to do the recovery and missed the end of the song.
I called technical support at JVC. The only thing they could tell me to do is exactly what is written in the book. He said it must be something with the harddrive and I needed to send it in to a repair place. Evaluation fee is $65. $15 of that goes toward return shipping and $50 goes to the cost of repair. I asked for an estimate of charges and he said his basic estimate for harddrive repairs is $350. I bought the camera in May of last year, so I'm obviously 2 months past the warranty. For that I could buy a new camera.
Can anyone tell me why the camera is doing this? I reformatted the harddrive following the instructions in the book. It's still happening.
Other than this issue, this has been a great little camera. I hate to give up on it.
Thanx for any help you can give me.

I am also having the same problem but, my camcorder is turning on now. In service center informed me that to change the board. But it is not available in JVC authorised centres.

Moving Video files from camcorder to PC will give the same problem. Its better to copy the video to PC & then delete from camcorder. I bought new camcorder, instead of sending for service which would cost of the price of new camcoder.

SOURCE: video management problem

sounds like you need to "recover" the hard drive.

Only other option you can try is to reset the camera.

SOURCE: Broken video management file/ recording failure

Although the instructions don’t make it clear, it seems to be important that the camera is turned off before you connect or disconnect the USB cable. The instructions do mention that you should not delete or rename files on the camera except in the EXT_MOV folder. The camera’s firmware is apparently quite fragile about file names and the presence of the extra hidden folders that both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems create when you delete something.

Accidentally deleted a video from my Kodak C180. Can I retrieve it? I haven't pulled out the memory card yet.

Yes, you can recover deleted files from camera with camera recovery program like asoftech data recovery
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Next" and wait for it to do it's magic.

My JVC GZ-MG77u displays the message "Video Management File is broken. To record/playback video, recovery is required.I click yes yet it still doesn't work. How can I fix this?

Video HDD recovery is possible as long as nothing has been recorded over the original images can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it’s not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.
My name is Rick and I’m a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. Do not be that worried, in this case you still have chance to get back those video chips and you may need video recovery software to help, here are some programs you may rely on. Both programs can also recover photo and music files.

Video Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Video Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

Tips:
Take the memory card or stick out and connect to your computer via a card reader. Before your videos are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the JVC memory card or stick in case the original files(your videos) are overwritten.

When i turn on my camera it comes up with video management file is broken. Recovery is required. Will I loose if I recover?

Yes there is a good chance that you will, unless the pictures are actually stored on a memory card, then in that case take the card out and NO your Pic's will still be OK, else .. sorry but no.

JVC G-z-mg365bu video management file is broken to record/playback video. recovery is required recovery

For broken files, everio will prompt you to recover once switched on. If you mean deleted by accident, you can use file recovery software like Final Data Enterprise and a lot more. Mostly can be recovered, sometimes 80% or 90% of your total recording. Good Luck

Hello, I had the same problem and resolved it using the following program, which you can download from softonic ( is free ) :

http://pc-inspector-smart-recovery.softonic.com/

Is easy to use, you connect your card to de pc (with a pc reader or the camera ), select the card's folder, the file type (jpg) and destination folder for recovering the pictures and finally press init. After that the program will detect that the card is broken and will ask you to do an intensive inspection, answer yes and you'll begin to see your pictures into the destination folder. The process take a time, but is satisfactory.

There is more programs to do his as "card recovery", but no free

JVC Envirio GZ-MG21U Error Msg.

I had the same issue, but I went ahead and executed the recovery and my videos were still there. I thought I had lost one but it was actually saved/loaded to another image file in the camera which is the same one that the Demo playback file is stored in. I located it by connecting the camera to the PC going under my computer and just opening every file. After I got everything off the camera I went into the menu and executed the data clean up program. I am now scanning internet sites to see if there is a fix listed anywhere to keep it from happening again. Hope this helps.
