Not cooling freezer or refrigerator. After unplugging waiting 9 minutes it started cooling again but less than 24 hour same problem occurred. The temperature reading on the door is much lower than the actual temperature on the inside of the freezer and refrigerator.

How do I get my maytag side by side refrigerator model# msd2756geq to cool down below 50

first turn your refrigerator temp setting to 1 then wait for the compressor to kick off, this will send the unit into defrost mode, and most units take between 1 to 2 hours to acclimate(get tempered) correctly. after a few hours gradually turn your unit towards 9 until the compressor kicks on, when it does , stop turning the knob, it will acclimate again, 1-2 hours (some units can acclimate in 15 minutes) check your unit temp and do not use the unit if it won't cool down to 43 or less degrees, you run the chance of food poisoning. hope this was helpful.

Freezer not working

If the freezer is not cooling, then problem relates to compressor.but still wait more 12 hours and see if it starts cooling.Basically it takes approx 24 hours to regain its cooling, once its unplugged for few hours and then plugged in.---------- So once again check after another 12 hours and see if you notice cooling. But if there is no cooling then yes its compressor issue.-----------

If freezer will not start cooling, then fridge will also not start.------------

The freezer component is frezzing continuously.

This problem is related to defrost.

Try manual defrost reset procedure: ----

First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. If the same problem occurs then it's defrost problem. The defrost board and the defrost thermostat/heater is not functioning properly and it has to be checked and replaced. you can get the required parts from online sites like:---

www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site.---------

If it's again building up ice that means the unit is not defrosting. It's starting the cooling procedure, and then while defrosting, it's not working. The procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.

Freezer door was accidentally left open for about one hour. Now the refrigerator and freezer are not cooling.

If the freezer or fridge door remains open for one hour or few more hours by mistake, then to again get to its proper cooling cycle, it requires approx another 24 hours. And in that also, dont open the refrigerators doors for few hours. If you open, close it quickly.Once it cooling cycle again gets set, then you can use it like you use regularly. But approx it takes 24 hours to get proper cooling.-------- ------------------ But if its already more then 24 hours and there is very low cooling, then it can be internal defrost cycle issue. You will have to do manual reset procedure. The manual reset procedure is as follows:-------- First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then check,it will get set to its cooling cycle and work as normal.------------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Freezer works refrigerator is warm

If the freezer is getting cold and working properly, but fridge section is not getting cold, then it can be defrost issue.------------------ The procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.--------- Try manual defrost reset procedure: ---- First unplug the unit from main power outlet. The defrost assembly consists of three main parts. The defrost thermostat, the defrost heater and defrost board. Any of the one is not functioning. When thermostat sense the maximum cooling, it triggers the defrost heater to start heating and this defrosts the ice collected on the coils and the system works. Both thermostat and heater are controlled by defrost board. First the thermostat and defrost heater to be checked, if both check ok by meter and visually, then its defrost board causing the problem. Kenmore 71182100 refrigerator will not cool after clearing drain

Hey Donna! It normally takes 24 hours for your system to go back into it's "normal" mode after it's been off. I would wait until tomorrow and see if it's cooling down properly before you worry. You may call me if you like after you wait the 24 hour period. Hope this helps you! Ella
