It appears my F6 monitor is not keeping accurant time on calories and heart rate. I like the watch but while checking my sitting heart rate is very low. When checking the heart rate on a blood pressure maching the watch is about by 20 counts. Also while exercising my calorie count appears to be off. I have tracked my calorie count on a treadmill but the watch does not appear to capture it all. (e.x. today I walked 580 calories on the tradmill but watch only showed 309.) Could ther battery needs to be changed or any ideas?

First you need to understand that the Polar system is a medical grade device and it is calculating calories based on specific information that you have inputed and heart rate data from your heart.

Most treadmills and other exercise machines use a much simpler counter that is height and weight based to calculate calories and are generally over generous with their numbers.

Depending on the blood pressure machine you are using, the pulse (not heart rate) is coming through the brachial artery, again not quite as accurate as measuring r-r variance from your heart. There is a ton of literature you can read if you are into the accurateness of the system, but I will sum up with saying that you actual calorie expenditure will be closer on the Polar than on most other devices outside of a hospital. As too the heart rate this is also true, so more likely you are getting inaccurate numbers from the other devices.

If you want pinpoint accuracy then you will need to use the Polar RS800 or S810 devices that measure and display true R-R.

How do I reset the chronograph? Once I start it I can't find a way to reset it.

In heart rate mode, click reset to go to Calorie burned mode. In that mode press and HOLD reset button and this should reset all lap, calorie data. etc

I changed the battery in the f6 . I had erratic readings. Now watch seems fine but it wont read heart rate,,,,I get no heart beat at all .

Check out my tips and tricks section for a guide on troubleshooting heart rate readings.

One other possibility if you changed the battery yourself (never recommended) is that some damage or moisture has gotten into your watch and made it impossible for the watch to read heart rate. This is a more common reason than you think and why all manufactures of Heart Rate monitors and other types of watches have you send them in to their authorized service centers.

The heart rate function has turned off. So the calorie count won't work. Everything else is working fine. It happened about four days ago. I have lost my owners manual.

Press and hold the reset button, for 5 seconds, while in Time mode. this will reset the heart monitor and the symbol will reappear on the screen.

Do I have to wear my transmitter to review calories burned?

Hi,
Without knowing how hard you have exercised (heart rate) it wont be able to calculate how many calories you have burned.

I have the timex fitness trainer and it is calculating my calories for a man and I need it calculated for a woman. Help!

Simple! men and women burn calories at the same rate. And the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn to conduct an excersize. And the more fat you have, the more calories you will burn from fat.
