Since installing this graphics card I've had a shadowing issue. Being a new graphics card I assumed it was a problem with my power supply. I replaced the power supply and I still have a shadow on every icon, word, picture, etc. The drivers are updated, have been uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and all requirements are met. Any ideas?

instead of assuming a comparability issue, have you considered a power supply issue?

have you disabled the onboard video?

have you exchanged the card? have you tried a different brand

according to your boards tech support:

• Some PCI Express graphics cards require more power.
• Remove and reinstall the new card to make sure it is fully seated in the slot.
• Try the card in a different slot, if possible.
• Make sure other devices and cables inside the chassis were not disturbed or loosened when you installed the new card.

additionally, you need to make sure that you have more than 2 gigabytes of system ram; although, wwith an i7, i would expect yo have that already covered.

It the graphics card that you installed acceptable for that computer? What was the issue with the previous graphics card?

If this is still a graphics issue then you are probably correct in needing a new power supply. Be forewarned, though, that if the power supply is having problems delivering power to support your graphics card then it may have also corrupted your motherboard. :(

If the system works properly in "Safe Mode" the problem is with your drivers. Try and update the drivers by downloading them from the manufacturers website. Although, having looked at the spec, it could just be that you are not using the supplied monitor adaptors to run your display. Try it that way and see. Good luck.

Prime95 won't tax the video card, you'd need something like 3Dmark or Everest. It's most likely a power issue. Upgrade to a 500W minimum, the higher the better. Check NewEgg, Slickdeals.net, dealzon.com for deals. The power supply's the last place you want to cheap out - get a good one.

sounds like might be a bad card,

alternatively your system ram might be giving you grief, i had major BSOD issues with my computer and ram tested fine, upon switching sockets that the ram was in i found that it was actually good ram, bad ram socket.

you wont damage anything but get at least a 450-500w power supply. Nothing should be damaged

I assume you installed the new graphics card already. Did you check if your power supply could handle the increased power? If your power supply is rated at 350W or less, I'd upgrade to at least 400W.

Also, ensure that the graphics card, if it has a power connector, is connected properly to the power supply, and that in the process of installing it, you didn't accidentally remove any of the power connections to your motherboard.

The Green LED lets you know that it is receiving power from the wall, and that the problem lies in the computer somewhere.

Unless you are working with 3D models your gains in upgrading your VGA card is minimal as photoshop is knowns to be more dependent on the size of memory, speed of memory installed on your machines as well as the speed of the hard disk. The processing power of the CPU also can be an important factor than the graphic card.

However if you are set on going for a new graphic card, I would advise you that you get a new card such as the 8600GT or the ATI 3850 (Similar in price but faster than the 8600GT and 7600GT and uses the same or less amount of watts!, and also does not need a the 6pin connector for additional power).

Going back to your power issue, you have not stated your power supply's wattage or amperage, or if the power supply is generic or branded all which influence the decision to get a new power supply. However if you have a power supply that provides a true 300W you should be fine to run any of the cards stated above.

With regard to the bus issue, if you have a PCI-Express bus you should be fine in getting any of the new cards, but if you have AGP you will be more limited, though i know there are 7600GT (old stock) which are for the AGP slot, and only AMD (ATI) released there R2600 range for the AGP slot.

It most certainly sounds like a graphics card problem, especially since it's been working fine up to this point. You might also want to try a different monitor cable just to make sure. Although the components used in today's computers are much more reliable than they used to be they do still fail occasionally. Good luck.
