When you press the TIME button and HOLD DOWN the forward or reverse arrows what happens?
The 4 most common causes of this are:
1) The unit is plugged into an AC outlet that is
controlled by a wall switch somewhere.
For example a switch on the wall the controls
an overhead light and also the AC outlet.
Quite often people forget that the wall switch
must be in the ON position
2) The unit is plugged into a power strip (used
to be foolishly called a surge protector) and either
the power strip is not turned on, or the fuse has blown
3) The battery is discharged or corroded or the wrong
battery or the connector is loose of the wires are
frayed, etc.
4) The unit has been plugged into a non 120, such as
into a foreign receptacle.
Don't use cheap batteries. Buy brand name such as
Everready, not some Walmart generic.
Unplug the unit from the wall AC.
Take out the battery and inspect the connector
for corrosion or split wire.
Put in a FRESH and BRAND NAME battery
Plug the unit back into the AC unit DIRECTLY
into a wall AC outlet and NOT into a Power strip.
