Hello... When I tape record, there seems to be the OTR that has a :30 minute timer , which switches from recording to playing the TV when thirty minutes runs out. I'd like to have my VCR record uninterruptedly. I need help with that setting, please...

The recording set-up must have been program to record only in 5 minutes. You could play around with the remote and try to enter the record set-up. The problem with the VCR must be a worn-out belt or a dirty loading mechanism. You could try to replace the belt or clean the surface area where all the mechanism slide together or make contacts and put an small amount of recommended grease or petroleum jelly.

OTR stands for One Touch Record. On the remote or VCR will be a button with it on, set the channel you want to record and press it. The VCR will start recording. If you press it again it will add a time often in jumps of 30 minutes each time it is pressed.

Timer recording can be programmed on-screen with
the remote control. The built-in timer allows automatic
unattended recording of up to 8 programs within 1
month.

EXAMPLE: Program a timer recording for the 26th day,
channel 125 (CATV), 11:00 - 11:30 PM on timer program
number 1 (Tape speed: EP).

When a TV is connected with an audio/video cable, turn the
TV and this VCR on and select the video input mode on the
TV.


• After timer recording is completed, the VCR turns off
automatically.
• You can program the timer recording while a regular
recording is in progress; the menu screens will not be
recorded.
• The timer recording will start at 20 seconds before the time
you predetermined.

Press MENU on the Remote.
Check the “TIMER REC SET”
option is selected, then press
ENTER.

Press SET –/+ to select one of
the program lines, then press
ENTER.

Press SET –/+ to select the
date, then press ENTER.

Set the start time, end time,
channel and tape speed as in
step 3.
NOTE: To record from external
source, press SET –/+
and set the channel to
"L". "L" will appear next
to CH 125 (or 69).

To enter other programs,
repeat step 2 through 4. Or,
press MENU twice to return
to the normal screen.

Press TIMER on the Remote.
The power will go off, the
TIMER REC indicator ( ) will
light and the VCR stands by
for recording.

To cancel a program:

Press the SET –/+ to select the
“TIMER REC SET” option in the
MENU. Then press SET –/+ to
select the unnecessary program,
and press CANCEL to cancel the
program.

OTR is one-touch recording on most of my VCR/DVD burners where you set the length of time to record from the tv. In my manual it is the Express Record feature. Press the REC button several times to advance the record time by 30 minutes. In your case it might refer to On Timed Record.

Use the COPY button on the front of the unit when the tape you want to record is in the VCR and a blank DVD is in the DVD tray. If you have the A/B Edits set, only the A/B editted sections will copy. (Copy protected tapes and DVDs can't be copied.) (Or the timed transfer described below)

Copying DVDs to VCR tapes can be done in a timed record mode. You can either use Menu > Disc > Copy Disc then press OK or Menu > Timers > Set Transfer and press OK. Then press Info to name the timed event followed by Done and OK, if desired. Press OK to highlight Copy From/To and make sure to select the correct source and destination and press OK. Next set the day and time that you want the transfer to take place (a couple of steps, press OK between them and when done). Then adjust the quality if needed and press OK. Finally highlight Keep Timer and press OK again. Make sure the correct tape and DVD are in place for the timed event.

Depending on what you set the unit for, I'd look for signs of power failures (which mess up most timed record functions). Then I'd double-check the time you set it to transfer and the A/B edits function. (A/B edits lets you grab small clips from an Indexed tape. Either index the tape by playing it and pressing the Insert A/B edit button (on the VCR/DVD, possibly on the remote) or delete A/B edits.)

Hey there - I've got the exact same model VCR; although I've lost the manual as well, I've been using it for so long that I

can usually remember it all from heart:

To set the clock

1. Open the flip-down lid, push [CLOCK] button.
For each of the steps below, use the white-labeled [+] and [-] tracking buttons to increase/decrease each number.
2. Two digits should be blinking - this is the year (last two digits only) - adjust and push [NEXT] when done.
3. Two digits, with a "D" next to them should now be flashing - this is the month (1=January thru 12=December), adjust and push [NEXT] when done.
4. Two digits, with a "M" next to them should now be flashing - this is the day-of-month (1..31), adjust and push [NEXT] when done.
5. The time should now be displayed, with hours flashing - adjust and push [NEXT] when done.
6. The minutes of the time should now be flashing - adjust. When you push [NEXT], this will complete the date-setting and start the seconds-of-the-minute off at zero - handy for synchronising to an external time source (I recommend using the

Teletext broadcast clock if available - you'll usually find your recordings will start right-on time when you do this, depending on your TV station).
7. If you make an error at any step above, push [CLOCK] to exit clock-setting mode and start again.

Depending on your model of VCR - the clock may either persist through power failures (backup battery) or may have to be reset next time power is lost. Mine doesn't seem to have a backup battery.

To program the VCR for timer-recording: There are two modes, Timer Record (start and finish recording at arbitrary times in the future), and OTR ("One Touch Recording", start recording right now and finish at a set time in the future).

*** Timer recording ***
There are eight programme slots (numbered 1-8 on the display), each programme slot has an individual channel and start/finish time associated with it. Programmes can be scheduled up to 1 month in the future.

Push [PROG/CHECK] to cycle through each slot (after the eighth slot, it will return back to normal operating mode).

When you want to set a programme, push [PROG/CHECK] until you find an empty slot (date/time will be all dashes). Then do the following:

1. Channel should be flashing - set this using white-labeled [+]/[-] tracking buttons and push [NEXT] when done.
2. Date should be flashing (defaults to today), use [+]/[-] to adjust starting date and push [NEXT] when done.
3. Set the starting time ("ON" should be lit next to time) (defaults to now), use [+]/[-] to adjust starting time and push [NEXT] when done.
4. Set the finishing time ("OFF" should be lit next to time) (defaults to starting time), use [+]/[-] to adjust and push [NEXT] to complete the setting of this programme. After this, you'll be returned to the start of setting the next programme (the unit will also beep five times to confirm you have a valid programme set).

If you make an error (or you need to clear a programme slot that already has a programme set), hold down the [-] and [+] buttons for three seconds until the starting time/date becomes all dashes.

When you're done with setting your programme(s), keep pressing [PROG/CHECK] until you exit into normal operating mode, then push the [TIMER REC] button to activate the timer; this will put the VCR into timer standby mode, and the orange clock icon should be lit solidly on the display. There should also be a number (1..8) lit for each programme that has been set, but is still yet to run. Make sure you have the tape inserted and positioned in the right place when you do this.

After timer standby mode is activated, you can then push [PROG/CHECK] to review the individual programme slots; each push of [PROG/CHECK] will cycle through each slot (the display will time out in 10-15 secs).

To get out of timer standby mode (either when after the programmes have run or if you've made an error), push [TIMER REC] again - this will return you to normal operating mode (where you can fix errors if need be). Programmes that have run to completion should be automatically be cleared.


*** OTR (One Touch Recording) ***

This will start the tape recording immediately (good for when you have an unexpected distraction or sudden change of plans) and have it stop at a later preset time. The OTR mode only has one programme slot, unlike timer record.

1. Insert tape, have it positioned where you want to record from. Set the channel to the one you want to record from.
2. Open the flip-down lid, look at the bottom-right corner of the array of buttons inside.
3. Push the green-labeled [OTR +] button; this will start the tape recording instantly (the red "OTR" indicator should be lit on the display).
4. The stop time should also be displayed - use the [OTR -] and [OTR +] to adjust the stop time. When you're done, that's all you need to do (you can adjust it any time later).

To abort OTR mode (ie. if you start it by mistake, or want to stop the recording early), push the main [VTR] button to stop the recording. Yes, that's right - turn the whole thing off, it'll leave you in standby mode.

I found the manual and helped me get familiar with the remote etc. Tech. support solved my problem i was pressing the otr rec button instead of the timer rec button. Ken.

I have no solution how to fix it. My idea is . Use the One-touch timer Recording (OTR) on page 27.
If your manual is the same as mine. My VCR recorder is broken.

it will automatically play at the speed the tape was recorded at. but if you want to change record speeds here's how: you should be able to access menu functions from the front of the vcr, if so, put a tape to be recorded into the unit and then set the timer for a couple of minutes.while you are on the timer menu it will ask you for recording speed. set the timer record speed to ep and let it record for two minutes and let it record for the full time untill it stops recording. the record speed will automatically change settings to whatever you used last on timer record.

Hi I am Temperance MI and I see this mode in my shop often, does any onscreen menu come up when using the remote and
going into menu? If not maybe the remote is bad, common just
a loose battery lead, If you are able to go into menu, and set the
clock, but unable to set timer record, look closely at you recordable tape to make sure on the left bottom from corner the
the recording tab is in place, You can place scotch tape over this hole of existing tab to ensure it will go into record. Finally
if it wont go into record when you try to use OTR, you
