SOURCE: Whirlpool LGC8858EQ0 Natural Gas Dryer Problem:

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

Below is a link to common solutions that will help you with parts and diagnostic procedures that are specifically tuned to your manufacturers data plate information.
It provides exploded view imagery, belt routing diagrams, parts imagery and function, parts ordering and shipping information, error code details, just about anything you need to get your appliance up and running again.

If your dryer doesn't heat, check these:

Temperature Switch, make sure a positive heat selection has been made. Then check these:

Igniter
Gas valve coils
Thermal fuse
Igniter Modern gas dryers use an electric igniter to ignite the gas from the gas valve. When it's working properly, the igniter glows bright orange. When it burns out, the dryer tumbles but there's no heat because the gas can't ignite. When the igniter burns out, you need to replace it. If the igniter is held by a tension bracket, you very well may need to replace the bracket too.

The igniter is inside the dryer housing, near the bottom front, usually in a cone-shaped metal tube (the force cone). It's about 2 inches long. It's mounted to the far end of the burner tube, and it has two wires attached to it--or to the tension bracket, if there is one.

Gas valve coils Watch the igniter. Does it glow bright orange, then shut off without igniting the gas? (When the gas ignites there's a large blue flame.) If so, there may be defective coils on the gas valve. Mounted on the top of modern gas valves, there are black electrical coils. The coils, when energized, open the gas valve. If one or more of the coils are defective, the valve doesn't open and the gas cannot ignite. Because it's often difficult to properly test the coils, it's usually best to replace both (all) of them at the same time.

Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

SOURCE: my whirlpool duet gas dryer (model ggw9200lw1) is taking too long

There is a rare chance that the gas supply is clogged. Dealing with gas pipes is dangerous business, don't fool with it unless you are experienced with plumbing. After checking a gas pipe, do a bubble check for leaks with dish soap from a sponge or sprayer. There are small filters and traps placed here and there in the plumbing of some units. They are similar to the ones on a washing machine hose, but smaller.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGR4634EQ2 is not getting hot,

You may have damaged the glow bar gas ignitor when cleaning the dryer.. it's a ceramic element that gets brittle after it has been used. And if you bang into it with a vacuum hose or tool or whatever while you're cleaning it, it can crack or break....try cycling the dryer and watch the ignitor while it attempt to heat up... if there isn't any glow at all, its the ignitor... it's a simple job to swap it out...
Let me know if that doesn't work...

Make dryer hotter

Rather than make it hotter, check other things.

The longer the vent line is, the longer it will take to dry.
Also, most vent lines have a flapper outside that closes off when not in use to prevent cold air and critters from coming in.
Check to make sure that it's operating (opening) properly.
Also, no sharp bends in the vent line coming from the dryer to the vent ducting in the wall.

Finally, if it's an electric dryer, you could try one of these:

To prevent lint from flying through the air, the inlet hose (from the dryer) go into water that is poured inside unit, trapping the lint that comes out the vent hose.

Whirlpool ggw9250pl1 doesn't start sometimes

If your gas dryer will not start the first thing I always look at is if your vent is clear. If you can get behind your dryer to check your vent hose and possibly the vent in the wall to see if it clear.

My Whirpool Duet Gas Dryer is no longer heating up.

This is probally the coils. They tend to fail as the dryer heats. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html that will walk you thru the troubleshooting. It's a different model but the testing of the parts will be the same.

I have a Whirlpool gas dryer Model # LGR5644JQ1 and it no longer heats up.Ihave cleaned the lint trap and the vent duct is clear, what else could it be.

Gas dryers generally use what is called a 'surface igniter' to ignite the gas and they do fail. Expect $25-$40 for the part and labor, who knows. Different machines have different degrees of hassle.

DRYER TAKES LONGER TO DRY

you could have restricted airflow from the lint screen not being cleaned, a bad blower wheel, or a bad thermostat. take the vent hose off the back and check to see if the air flows out the dryer with good force, if so your vent is probably clogged or not open in the wall. the vent hose may also be picned off from puching the dryer back to far.

Gas dryer gets hot for a few minutes then goes cold.

Sounds like you need to replace the coils on the gas valve. Just make sure your venting is clear 1st. If it is, the coils are easy to replace. Remove the front panel and the coils are on the bottom right hand side. Two screws and the bracket for both comes off. One has two terminals and the other has three. Real easy once you get into the dryer.

Propane Gas Dryer (Whirlpool DUET Front Loader) not drying

huuum At your service!

Did this tech do some wash to the dryer and feel that there was no heat?
He was not a good tech

Sometimes this can happen when the vent line is clogged.

1. Check if the lint filter is full and needs to be cleaned.
Try this first.
2. Then check if the outside screen covering the exhaust vent if this is even half blocked
with lint there will be no heat! This screen is to keep small animals out!
Try checking this and if it is clogged or the spring loaded door is stuck closed.
Try to clean the lint out of the corners of the flap door,
and or remove the screen permanently!
NO ANIMALS LIKE TO GET BURNT,IT'S HOT IN THAT TUBE! They sense this and stay clear.
It is 2 years that mine is off and all is fine.

You will be fine

Whirlpool dryer not enough heat

There may very well be a clog in the vent line. Check the vent to be sure it is clear. Make sure to check the outside vent cover. Some of these vent have screen/louvers that can get clogged.
