I had same problem with a TC6001 and get solution from MTX, not send to MTX instead MTX kindly sent a quotation for parts to be replaced, I can tell you what parts need to be replaced if you still need a solution.

  • Anonymous Dec 31, 2009

Sorry, long time not coming here, if someone still interested on solution next are information about parts to be replaced: Reference designators Q400 and Q401. They are PZTA06 and PZTA56 respectively. MTX part numbers for these parts are MDB008 and MDB006. I would also suggest changing
    U501 which is a NE5532 (MTX P/N MES001), D400 and D401 (MTX P/N MDD812), and R513 (MTX P/N MBB014).

50 volts DC at the output of your amp is extremely high and will certainly blow any subwoofer. It sounds like your amp is bad and the output is stuck against one rail. I have repaired a TC6001 before and I know that the rails are +50v and -50v. You will have to replace your subs and get the amp fixed.

Mtx mxa 6001 amp cant get it to produce good bass using mtx 5500 subs running a 2ohm load

You seem to have everything in spec. check your crossover points and your speaker wiring. subs may be playing out of phase.
A huge factor is subwoofer enclosure ...if the enclosure is not in spec with sub requirements the subs will not peform great.

I have 4 mtx 9500 12in subs 2 of them is on a mtx 92001 and the other is on a mtx 4001d . would it be better to run all four on the mtx 4001d. for more power and a better sound or how should i run this set...

NEVER mix different power amps. Depending on the ohms of your subs, sell one of the amps, up to you. The 4001 has more power, but either amp will do the job, the amp needs to see a 1 ohm load, so your subs have to be dual 2 ohms, or single 4 ohms to do this. If your subs are dual 4 ohms then you will have to run your amp at 2 ohms which would be have the power, or a half an ohm, (Not Recomended) and be at double the power. You may be able to do a competion sound off and just "Burp" the subs, but at a half an ohm, dont expect to listen to it to long before it goes into protect and shuts down.

How big of hole do i need for the mtx 6000 thunder 10in

The MTX Thunder 6000 T61544A is a 15" Subwoofer meaning you will need a 15" hole to fit the subwoofer into. The mounting plate that surrounds the subwoofer will extend past 15" allowing you to screw the sub in properly. Be sure to use a box that is at least 12 inches deep (sub is 10 inches deep by specifications + 2 inches for good air cushion behind.

Why does my mtx 6001 amp keep cutting out, it has worked fine for 7 years now

something is starting to fault out, either is internal, with like the thermal protection failing, or its external like the voice coils of the subs slowly burning up, changing the impendence. or it could be something simple like a ground wire or positive wire working loose from all the years of vibration.

Can you help with my wiring?

The more amp you are pushing the better. Better too much amp then not enough. How many watts per speaker? less then the amp I hope. When you need decibles the more air you push the louder it will be. Enclose in a MDFB enclosure or plexiglass and feed towards each other and port the box to the sides. This will cause some annoyance. We ran 2 rockforts @1000 watts and abtained 137dc before the back windshield blow out,,lol

MTX 5500 SLEDGEHAMMER 12" ENCLOSURE

According to MTX they need 1.25 cubic ft per sub sealed and 2 cubic feet vented. Most pre-fab boxes will work for those subs.

Mtx 895 trouble

check your fuse up front first. some amps will turn the light on with only the remote wire (the 12 volt signal from the head unit). That may be your issue. If not you need to check your signal input. try hooking the rca's to a diffrent source, i.e. other radio your tv anything with Rca out put. If still you get nothing then pull your subs out and take a regular 9 volt battery and touch the leads to the positive and negative of the sub. Just for a moment though if the subs move when they come in contact with the charge from the battery then my last suggestion would be to take it to a store where you can have an authorized tech check out the equiptment. Good luck
