We have a Maytag Gemini, model MER6771AAB, and it is diplaying an F9-5 error. The lower oven latch tries to lock three times, and sounds bad (motor slightly grinding) while attempting to lock, then the F9-5 code comes on. I am fairly certain either there's an obstruction back in the oven where I can't get to it, or the motor / latch assembly has gone faulty. I have opened the back of the stove and cannot get to the assembly that way without tearing apart most of the stove and unplugging many components (not going to go there), and I also looked to see if I could access it by disassembling the upper burner on the lower oven and the cover above it, but as I suspected there was no access there either. Is there a way to simply clear the code or bypass the lock. We have child proof locks on the oven doors anyway. Any other ideas or sugggestions are appreciated? Al

SOURCE: Maytag Gemini Stove Code F1-4 (bottom door won't open)

F-1 error is a Temperature Runaway. It Maytag's way of letting you know that oven overheated. Nothing you have done but it may have shorted out the oven sensor or the keypad. Check the sensor and see if it's closed. If it's okay, replace the keypad.

SOURCE: range displays error code f9-5

HI. This indicates that there are serious issues that concern the operational value of the main control abord(ERC/Clock).

This will require you to replace the ERC, asap.

Oven door is locked and digital display says F9

F9 is a door lock error. Try starting and then canceling a clean cycle. If that doesn't work you need to check the door latch motor and switches. You access the latch motor and switches by removing the left side panel. It may just be a bent latch rod.

My Maytag Gemini oven is displaying an F9-2 error code...I believe this has to do with the upper oven door lock mechanism...anything I can do, or does this require a service call?

F9-2 error code indicates:

  1. Door latch motor failure/jammed. Latch motor switch failure.
  2. Oven control software failure, or component failure(stuck relay).
  3. Wiring problem.
  • Press the clear key.
  • If the Clear key does not eliminate the problem, turn off the power to the range for 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
  • It is most likely to have a failed or misaligned door lock switch.

Maytag range fault code F92

There should be some number after the F 9 Error code. And, it would look like this
F9-1 Latch lock upper
F9-2 Latch unlock upper
F9-3 Latch lock lower
F9-5 Latch unlock lower
F9-6 Latch both lower

This is just to give you an idea. But one thing you can try is UNPLUG THE UNIT AND LEAVE IT LIKE THAT FOR AN HOUR OR TWO, AND THEN PLUG IT BACK IN.

Bottom oven lock will not lock to clean my Gemini model MER6770

The lower oven may have a problem . It could be a few different things the door latch mechanism, oven door switch, the metal rod that pulls the latch over all are quite difficult to figure out. I would recommend calling an authorized servicer on this one. good luck

F9-4 when cleaning upper oven

its related to the self clean ltach motr, if you pull hte unit out and drop teh rear panel, approx halh way down on theright side( when behind unit) thers asmall lock mechinisn mavbe 1.5 round, with a connecting rod 2 wires and a witch, well that motor sometimes as it heats looses connection with the switch. the switch is monitoring door positoin so if it loses contact it thinks the door is open and will trigger a code. the entire latch is replacabel (FRont to back comesa sone assy latch motor swittch and rod. 2 wires connect it and 2 screws(by front latch secure it. if youtry to replaceit your self i giveyou the heads up to lie a yard stick on top of latch before removing old latch (thos will keep the insulation in place) andthen when installe ing new latch also use hte ayrd stick ontop to keep insulation inplace!!!!!
