We have had the washing machine for less than a year now, and have had smelly washer issues for a while. We leave the door open after every wash. We have done the spin cycle with chlorine bleach. We have used every washing machine cleaner that we can find. Usually those push the smell down for a while, but it always comes back..sometimes not for a couple of months, sometimes only a few weeks. Can anyone suggest what might be the problem and how to fix it? The smell is definitely on the moldy side of things. Please help, I'm sick of stinky towels!! Thanx heaps :)

The smell is coming from the door seal 99% of the time. The only way to really get rid of the smell is to clean the seal really good paying close attention to under part and crevasses of the seal with a bleach mixture. Here is a video to explain it a little more.

How do we deodorize a smelly front load washer?

Buy the washing machine cleaning products near the laundry soaps. I believe Tide sells one.
tip

Smelly washers

OK there are a lot of people with the smelly front load washer . the smell is caused buy a build up of detergent it is recommend that you use 2 tbs of detergent and 1 if you have a water softener. also leaving the door open after a washing is good to help it air out . to often people blame the door gasket because they get spots on them well the rubber used is a antimicrobial rubber so it cannot mold . the smell is actually soap build up trapped inside the washer if you run your washer with nothing in it and see soap suds your using to much detergent. there is hope though cutting back on detergent and using a product called Lemeshine mc3 will eliminate the odor issue.

When i wash it smells like rooting eggs i tryed bleach and the tablets but smells up the hole house what wrong its a lg tromm wm-2487hwm steam washer

I had the same problem. You must take out your clothes immediately and leave the door open after every wash to let the inside of the washer completely dry. I believe I read to run a cycle of bleach water and wipe down the inside of the door and interior with bleach/water mixture. Then let it dry. You then can start washing your clothes again, but you must be diligent about leaving the door open to air out between washings.Hope this works for you. I almost sold my machines shortly after I bought them because my clothes were always smelly after washing. Leaving the door open has worked for us.

Smelly washing machine

put some bleach in the washer and run a rince wash (nothing in the washer) then run 3 more rince washes to clear out all traces of bleach before you put any closes in it,(or do a hot white wash only) this should work ok, when not in use all ways leave the door open if you can to change the air inside your washer it stops them smelling

Smelly washer!!!!!!

Check the drain hose for gunk then:
Fill up the tub half way with water (small load) put a cup of vinegar a 1/4 cup of baking soda let it foam up then run the washer through a regular cycle empty. If this does not work: you will need to use a commercial mold removing product.

Smelly clothes after washing

yes musty is actually cooked soap
from the dryer
take a clean just washed towel and put it in the washer alone with no soap
turn on the machine and watch what happens you will see the suds start to form
with this unit, if your using too much soap it will be spun into the cloths and then cooked in the dryer
do one towel load without soap then cut you soap usage way back
anything more than a tablespoon is way to much

remember you bought this unit to save water

1/6 the water 1/6 the soap
and he should be less
