I have 2 SL-DZ 1200 digital turntables. One is 1.5 years old, and it works fine. The other is 2.5 years old and it just has just stopped working. When I insert a disc, sometimes it says "no cd audio track", but the discs are good - they work in the other turntable. When it does manage to load the disc, it will play a song for 5-10 seconds, and then it just repeats over and over - "duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh...". When this happens, it won't let me skip tracks, or stop the device, or eject the disc. I have to turn the power off, turn it back on, and then eject the disc. I've tried dozens of different discs but none of them work in this turntable, but they all work fine in the other one. I've put in a lens cleaner disc, but it did not help. I've taken it to Panasonic here in Taiwan where I live, but they say they cannot fix it because it wasn't manufactured in Taiwan. Please help me fix my device.
More than likely the traverse assembly needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, this is not easy, as Panasonic does not sell this assembly complete. YOu will have to purchase each part individually, and this in itself is not an easy task. Only an service tech knowledgeable with this unit will be able to help you out with this. Unfortunately, I cannot refer you to anyone in Taiwan.
Panasonic service is useless all over the world. I have never heard of a good repair story about Panasonic, so it's good that they didn't attempt the repair. Go with a independent reputable local service center.
Your always welcomed to ship it to us here in NY. But it wont' be cheap, and there could be more damage to the unit during transit. Just a suggestion though, if you can't find anyone in your area.
Good luck!

Upgrade the firmware. you need a small SD card.
I forget what keys to hold down at power up.. or where to download the update
BUT.. it may work.. I am sure you can find it..
Or maybe you have gunk on the tracking servo's gears "linear' a grain of grit.
working on the DZ is easy if you have any electronics background.
