Sony Trinitron Wega kv-36fs120 wont turn on, standby/timer LED flashes 9 times.

My Sony Trinitron Wega kv-36fs120 wont turn on, standby/timer LED flashes 9 times. Occasionally the tv comes on but wont cycle on/off again. I've tried leaving it unplugged for over 24 hours, no difference. Any ideas? Yes, my Sony Trinitron KV-36FS10 cycles on and off. Where can I find the relay?

The relay is in the power supply area. I am sure that the fault is not the relay.

It is very common that there are various components starting to go off spec from age. Most of the failures are in the scan amplifiers and power supply areas.

It is also possible that the CRT emission is too low from age. What happens is that it is on the minimum edge and this explains why the set may turn on some of the time.

When the main uPC in the set sees any potential fault conditions it will go in to a protection mode to prevent damage and to be safe. Your set is probably borderline to operate.

Considering the age of your set, I would be shopping for a new TV set.

Sony Wega trinitron TV wont turn on..Keeps shutting off and standby flashes 7 times

Thank you for your question.

Fortunately this is a common symptom and there is a fix for it.

There are two power supply IC's and a capacitor that need to be change. In particular IC6501, IC8002, part number, Mcz3001db, and C6556, 33uF @ 160V.

1. Place set on flat solid surface (garage floor or driveway).
2. Bang into it with SUV 3 or 4 times.
3. If set fails to respond, crush against garage wall or drive over it

Sony trinitron tv does not turn on

most of that problem is due to defective vertical ic,and your protect system detect that there is a part/s defective.
