This sounds like the back light is gone on the monitir... to check this look very close at the monitor whet the PC has booted, if you see a VERY dim image on screen then it suggests that the back light is gone.

Many monitors hace a 3 year warranty so I would try a warranty claim before throwing it away

My monitor is blank it just keeps saying self check its a dell flat screen

Hi,

If it shows "Self test feature check" the cable (VGA / DVi ) is unlplugged on the computer/ tower. Check the cables it may be loose. If not, try replacing the VGA/DVi cables. The LCD is good since it was able to display the self test feature check.

Hope this helps.

Dell 1704 monitor goes to black screen after one

Hi my name is Rain.
Ok so that im clear on the problem. your monitor will come on but in a matter of seconds it goes to a black screen?
If this is the problem. The answers you seek will most likely
be in your video card.
Try this test:
  • Unplug monitor from the computer.
  • Turn on monitor .
  • Look for monitor self test screen.
If you see the monitors self test screen then your problem indeed is
the video card . You will need to replace the video card inside of the computer.

Dell E153FP monitor won't display any video from system (Dell GX260). My e173FP monitor works fine. E153FP powers up, runs Self Test Feature Test fine, menus all seem OK. Tried Factory Reset... still no...

You probably have tried this, but make sure monitor is set to correct display... i.e., Analog or Digital

Also, try starting in safe mode and verify Monitor is able to handle the display settings resolution

LCD Monitor Blank/Non-Responsive - Dell E173FPC

Next thing I would check is the VGA cable between PC and monitor.

Make sure is in at both ends and if possible try another one.

Do the Dell Menus come up with no VGA cable plugged in? Is the light amber? Flashing or static?

Dell E173FPc monitor. Screen is black, power button color cycles

Hi,
First, verify the monitor is functional.
Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check)
Turn off the monitor
Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any
surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
Turn on the monitor
The floating dialog box should appear on screen against a black background.
If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective.
What are the results please?

Screen suddenly went blank except for a self test box

well in order to get rid of the self test window from your monitor... check the cable that connects your monitor to system tower & reset the connection... becase that is the only possible cause of the self test showing up on your monitor...

" as the self test option only appears when there is no video signal going from your video card to the monitor...

Flat Panel Monitor: 1907FPt

Your monitor provides a self-test feature that allows you to check whether your monitor is functioning properly. If your monitor and computer are properly connected but the monitor screen remains dark, run the monitor self-test by performing the following steps:
  1. Turn off both your computer and monitor.
  2. Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer. To ensure proper Self-Test operation, remove both Digital (white connector) and the Analog(blue connector) cables from the back of computer.
  3. Turn on the monitor.
The floating 'Dell Self-test Feature Check' dialog box should appear on-screen on a black background if the monitor cannot sense a video signal and is working correctly. While in self-test mode, the power LED remains green. Also, depending upon the selected input, one of the dialogs shown below will continuously scroll through the screen.
    1. This box also appears during normal system operation if the video cable becomes disconnected or damaged.
    2. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable, then turn on both your computer and the monitor.
If your monitor screen remains blank after you use the previous procedure, check your video controller and computer system; your monitor is functioning properly.
