Hitachi 50UX26B Have a problem with the television set. When power is applied to the set, it turns on, then turns off and goes into protection mode. I have narrowed it down to one of the three lamps, the green one in particular. If I leave it unpluged from the board, the set goes on, stays on, but I get no picture besides a distorted view of the menu. The momment I plug the green lamp back into the power board, the set shuts down and goes into protection mode. Anything I should be looking for, or any hints/comments on how to troubleshoot this problem??

Good day, seanhanna;

Hitachi has LED’s, green ‘lights’ and a red light to determine what circuit may be the problem; after removing the back of TV, bottom only, plug TV back in and observe which LED’s come on …..BUT most important which LED’s don’t come on; locate and note number, EG; DP37 and etc.

Good luck, big IRISH. Ps let me know.

How do i manully converge 50" Hitachi projection

You have to get into whats called DCAM mode to manually converge the set if you don't see a menu option for convergence. Goto the site www.tvrepairkits.com - they have a DCAM article on their tips page.

On my Hitachi 50UX26B the only button that is working is the power. Neither the remote or the buttons on the TV will change channels or volume. Today it also has a wide black strip in the middle, about 24...

you likely had a power outage, unplug set for at least ten minutes and put power back to it.

Seen this in a lot of these sets and owned two of them myself.

before you rate this solution if you have a question let me know.

Unplugging set and plugging back allows the microprocessor in the set to reset

Hitachi 50ux26B keeps turning off.

There is a chance that the one of the power relays are causing the problem. They have been known to be intermittent and even work for 5 sec. or 5 days before failing. When the back is off, turn the set on and when it shuts down lightly tap the relay/s in the power supply lightly and see if the set comes on for any length of time. If it does, replace the relay
and you will fix the problem. Let me know what you find.
Hope this helps,
