Try going to https://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot and follow the appropriate prompts (eg forgot username or password / account was hacked).
If that doesn't work you can try uninstalling and reinstalling Yahoo messenger. Also make sure any firewalls or antivirus programs on your computer are not blocking Yahoo messenger.
