SOURCE: Wont heat up

I know that Karchers steam cleaners have had issues with the thermal overload. I have repaired Karcher machines that got turned on with no to little water in the tank and it would heat up really fast and trip the thermal overload. The thermal overload is to reset it self when it cools down but the problem has been the thermal overloads get stuck and dont reset. When they stick, they will give the same signs you have said. In those cases the thermal overload has needed replaced. The thermal overload did its job to trip, but it fails when reseting. I understand you don't want to throw more money into it, but that is the only thing you can do. You can get the part and do it your self, but they are tricky machines to get into and you dont want to break something trying to get in. Hope this helped.

Solution will not spray on carpet unless you use tools or spot spray also brushes are not turning

Remove the water tank. You will see 2 red tabbed plastic spray tubes.(where the spray comes out if not clogged) Pinch the clips to remove from the machine. Then you will need to pinch the hose clips to remove the red tabs from the hose. Clean out those red spray nozzles. Next step: have a towel ready and fill the solution tank with water. Put the solution (not water) tank on to where the water tank would go. Place the machine selection knob to rinse/wet only. Now with towel under the hoses that you removed the red tabs. Turn on the machine and pull the trigger to activate the water. You should see water flow out of the hoses that had the red tabs on them. If not, release and pull again the trigger several times. If only 1 hose has water coming out of it then block the one that works and try the process above again to de clog the one that isn't working. Good luck.

We have the water hooked up at the back of machine. there is a spout for the water to come in and fill the ice tray.but is does not. If we turn the water on it fills up the space under the ice basket. I...

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.
With the fill tube blocked with ice the water can drip down the back wall or drip into the ice bin or just stop up. You can use a hairdryer to thaw the tube out.

When button is pressed, water does not come out of the holding canister. still seems to have suction, but water doesn't come out to rinse/clean carpet.

Please check the following with liquid in both tanks.

- Check to see if the machine will spray through the hose with the setting on tools. If it does, the pump is fine. Continue troubleshooting.

- Check for debris on spray tips. Clean them with a soft brush (on old tooth brush works well). The spray tips may be lifted out for easier access.

- Ensure the tank lid is properly attached to the bottom of the tank. To attach this properly, remove the Water Tank from the machine. Hook the front window onto the lip of the bottom container and then allow the window with lid to cover the complete tank. Secure the latch on the back of the bottom tank to the back of the tank lid. THE TANK LID CANNOT BE ATTACHED PROPERLY IF THE BOTTOM TANK IS ALREADY INSTALLED IN THE MACHINE.
- Check the bottom of the Water Tank and the Formula Tank to make sure each has a red auto-load gasket attached. Make sure the Water Tank and the Formula Tank are seated properly. Depress the x on this gasket to ensure this depresses and release back out. Liquid from the tank should dispense.

- Remove the handle completely and re-attach. Once the handle is re-attached, re-attempt to spray.

If the machine continues to not spray, check the following:

REMOVE THE COLLECTION TANK:
• Make sure the unit is set to water rinse
• Remove the smart mix bottle and fill it with water only
• Place the smart mix bottle into the collection tank reservoir
• Run the unit and try to spray. If the machine sprays, you will be able to see the water level decreasing in the smart mix bottle and you will need to replace the bottom tank. It is possibly warped.

Karcher SC 1502 steam cleaner can't get cap off water tank

Dear jrider784,
I solved a problem like this on FIXYA, just a few months ago. I gave this solution. Try to fill the machine from somewhere else. You can do this from the outlet. If you manage to do this, put on the machine. ( now you know that when there is hot water in the machine, the tap goes round free for safety). Now as the water starts to cool down....start trying to see if you can unscrew it. My plan is that with the hot water, the safety will start to work again. If the cap does not release the safety on cooling, then there is no other way but to destroy the cap and replace with a new one. Very important to mention that this job must be done by a qualified technician or some one who knows what he is doing. Working with hot water is very dangerous.
Regards,
Fulltech.

Pro heat 2x no water coming out carpet part / hand tool either

In case any of you are still trying to figure this out... I took mine into a repair shop and had the pump replaced for $66. The repairman had 6 other machines in his shop when I bought mine in. He said the pump goes the minute it runs dry, so if you get yours fixed, or know anyone else with one, make sure to KEEP THE CLEAN TANK FILLED AT ALL TIMES!
