I HAVE A GE MICROWAVE/BROWNER NODEL WES1384SM2SS. IT HAS STOPPED RUNNING. I CAN SET IT UP TO COOK BUT WHEN I HIT THE START BUTTON NOTHING HAPPENS.

Re: GE JES1384SF Mine quit working so I unplugged it and put a pot of boiling water in it and let the steam dissolve whatever was gumming things up. I used an electric hot plate to keep the water boiling. I let it boil for a couple of hours. I left the door 2/3 open. The microwave is working again. It is four years old and has been used every day, many times a day before it stopped working.

Follow-up: After 20 days it stopped working again. I removed the keypad and it had a lot of sticky goo on the solder joints, so I took a Q-tip with alcohol and cleaned it. Didn't help. By the way removing the stainless steel top is a slide out (towards the back) operation. Similar to the way a computer case slides open. There is a track on the front sides of the cover that fits a long tab. New control unit is $69.00 herehttp://www.partselect.com/PS753837-GE-WB...

Possibly a bad door switch behind the holes where the latch hooks go into. Usually with the bad switch the timer counts down but nothing runs. It all depends on which switch is bad. Usually 3 switches inside.

How do I set the power at 50%?

After first setting the cook time---then hit the power level button and hit the number 5 (for 50%) and then start. Power level can also be changed while running by hitting power level button and selecting 1 through 10. For example level 3 is 30% for defrosting.

If the timer counts down and nothing else happens, the secondary interlock switch is bad. This switch completes the cook circuit and this is why it doesn't run. You need an ohm meter to diagnose and find the right switch. Switch failure is caused by opening the door when it is in cook mode. Push the stop button first before opening the door and this failure will cease to occur. BE CAREFUL !!

My G.E Microwave Model #JES1288SH001 has stopped microwaving but everything else works just fine such as the timer, turntable, Grill / Browner .

Have ge model je1860 turns on but when you hit cook nothing happens is it the turn table motor. i don't want to do trial and error on parts.naturally the fuse is good

I'll presume you can program it ( set the length of time you want to cook)
Does the timer count down?
Does the turntable ( if you have one) turn?
If everything else seems to work properly and it just doesn't cook more then likely the magnetron is bad

Runs but wont heat up

Probably magnatron is bad. Best test is to substitute a known good one. There are others but you are in the 4000 volt area of the unit.
