I have upgraded my computer, still using Windows XP, and need to reinstall the software for the HP PSC 1410. I followed the instruction carefully. The USB cable is disconnected. I have the latest software CD and the system reports that there is nothing later. I have no other applications running. But the installation is very slow and has been sitting at 94% for the last 12 hours. What is going on if anything?
I interupted the installation after about 36 hours and tried to install it again, but again it sat there for a very log time, about 12 hours. I then experimented with removing some processes (I don't know which ones) and also increased the priority levels on all the HP installation processes that were running. I also opened and closed the CD drive but nothing appeared to happen. Suddenly after a couple of minutes the installation program came to life and completed. But the automatic registration failed as the supposed web site were not found. At least the printer is working in color, but is seems the black ink cartridge is empty. Could this have anything to do with the troublesome installation?
