The top vent exhaust grill has two screws facing down-remove these. remove plastic vent. inside you will see a solid wire tringle assy. turn and pull this release.

warning if you have granite counters or tile, place plenty of material under it to stop the impact if oven gets away from you

-.htm -.htmYou can probably find exploded views and order parts by entering your model number here at the Sears parts site.

A full Sears/Kenmore model number usually has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########

A free manual may be available for download. Look for a Manage My Home link button on the right side of the search result / part listing page.

If that link is not there, you will need to order the installation instructions from them.

IF IT IS AN OVER THE RANGE MICROWAVE, THERE ARE MOST LIKELY TWO BOLTS LOCATED UP IN THE CABINET OVER IT. ONE IN EACH FRONT CORNER. SUPPORT THE MICROWAVE AND REMOVE THOSE TWO SCREWS. THE MICROWAVE IS HINGED ON A PLATE MOUNTED TO THE WALL. ONCE IT IS DROPPED FORWARD, LIFT IT OFF OF THE WALL PLATE AND SET IT ON A SUPPORTIVE SURFACE.

We had a microwave of similar vintage -- 665.68601890 -- and it did not have the wire pull, although the owner's manual said it would. There were two protrusions near the upper corners of the mounting plate that fit into holes in the microwave. We pulled down on the front top edge, using the bottom back edge as hinge with just enough force to pop the microwave off the protrusions, then could lift it off the back lip of the mounting plate.

How do you un-install a kenmore 665.61639100 microwave?

the link below will take you to the installation instructions if needed.
It is much easier for two people to remove the microhood. If attempting alone, please move the range out so you can get under the micro to support the weight. If the range stays in place, protect the top from damage.
1. make a landing site to the side to protect the floor when putting the micro down after removal.
2. Disconnect the power cord in the cabinet above.
3. loosen the two screws in the bottom front corners of the cabinet above. When removed the front of the micro will drop, be ready for the weight. Busy times, tools in hands microwave coming down in front.
4. tilt the front down. pull the cord out of the upper cabinet.
5. with micro still tilted down in front, lift the back of the unit upward to free it from the wall plate.
6. remove the fasteners in the wall plate and remove.
Congrats, begin celebration.

I can't find bolts or screws that hold the unit in place. I need to remove the microwave in order to install new one.

HI there,

Here's HOW;

  1. Remove the face plate above the door.
  2. There were 2 bolts in which you will need a screw driver to loosen it
  3. This bolts go all the way to the back of the microwave.
  4. You still need to remove the one - three screws that's above of the cabinet. You may have to jar it loose if it still stuck.
Hope this helps.

Let me know for further instructions.

Can't remove the vent grill

Two problems found. The electrician that installed the micro. installed it incorrectly. The fan was supposed to be turned so that the exhaust would go through the pre-installed duct in the wall. To remove the grill, there is two screws on top of the micro. which have to be removed. The builder put in a deeper cabinet that covers the screws because it looks better. To fix it I have to drop the micro, take off the grill, clean it and all the grease off the micro., replace the charcoal filter, turn the fan so it will exhaust through the duct and reinstall the micro.

How do you remove a microwave above the stove

Take the glass tray out and unplug it. Remove the 2 or three phillips screws in the top of the cabinet going into the micro. They should be towards the front. Hold up on it while removing screws. When all screws are out, let it tilt forward and lift it up off of the hooks. Some require help, so be carefull and put blankets on your stove to set it on when it first comes out.

NEED TO REMOVE WALL MOUNTED GE JVM1190BY002 MICROWAVE

I also have a JVM1190 and was baffled as to removal. My very handy brother solved it in two minutes. Above the door and keypad there is a long grill secured by two small squarehead (Robertson) screws. Remove the screws and grill and you will see on either side of the opening a long bolt. They go through to the back of the microwave where the support plate attached to the wall. The bolts have a slot in the middle for a flat blade screwdriver. Simply turn the bolt to release from the back plate. Make sure there is a helper underneath as the microwave is fairly heavy. Do the reverse for re-installation.

Removing under cabinet GE microwave

Remove the face plate above the door. You will see two bolts where you can use a screwdriver to turn them (unlock them). Those bolts go all the way to the back of the microwave. Once you have turned them (you do not need to remove them), you will need to remove the one - three screws that come in from the cabinet above. You may have to jar it loose if it still stuck.

Removing Old Built-In Microwave

You did not note your Make and Model. As there are many different types, all I can give you are basic directions.
First make sure the Power Cord is UN-PLUGGED from the wall.

1. Remove the Top Vent Grille Cover. There are screws holding this on, either Three you can see (one on each side and one in the center), or Open the Door and look for screws at the top of the Frame that go Up Into the grille.
2. Look in cabinet above unit for screws that hold unit up. Usually two (one on each side, front), can be more. Remove.
3. Look where Top Vent Grille Cover was removed. There should be a Long Screw or Screw-Type Lock at each( top) corner. These hold the unit tight on the Wall-Mount Plate. Remove. You should have HELP at this point as you will slide the unit forward until it comes clear of the Support Arms.
GOOD LUCK!!

Microwave installation

I'm a kitchen remodeler, and I've seen this problem with Kenmores (so it probably exists with some other brands too. The ones I have seen have the typical bolts through the top, but there's more. The flat mounting plate on the wall has an protruding piece that fits well into the body of the microwave when the unit is slid into place. It has a threaded hole in the end of the extension, and the sheet metal screw or bolt that goes into this is causing your anguish. To access this, you must remove the top front louvers (maybe some other trim plates as well). You'll eventually find the bolt that unscrews with a horizontal screwdriver.
