The battery quickly charge and discharge. And when the battery discharge and I connect the power adaptor to 220 volts power source, the laptop automatically shutdown and could not open unless the battery is fully charge again and remove the power adaptor to the power source. What is the problem?

Do you live in Europe> Typically power supply should only be 110 - 115V
Battery is simply no good any longer. If you can get 2 yrs from a battery you're doing good.
Try removing the battery and using the power supply and charging battery when not in use. Replace battery.
Hope this helps

Will American power tool batteries work after being plugged into a 220 charger

Yep. they will as long as the 220 volt charger was connected to 220. If a 220 volt charger is plugged into 110 volts it may not charge the battery but no damage to the battery will happen.

Hello. I have a lenovo n500. The battery died after i unplugged the adaptor for a few minutes. I plugged the adaptor back in blue light on adaptor and blue light on laptop are on- no power up. I have tried...

POWER SUPPLY & BATTERY PROBLEM
If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods. When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

I get a pop up note that the power supply in insufficent, and then the computer shuts off. Other times it works fine.

The message you are getting is telling you the battery is discharged, UNLESS you are plugged into the mains, in that case, the battery is not charging and the adaptor is not supplyig power to the laptop.
You may have a faulty charging circuit, a loose connection from the DC jack to the DC socket on the laptop, or a failing adaptor.

Check the above and repost if not solved

Laptop switching to battery while connected to AC adapter

A. First problem: The laptop switches to battery power even with connected AC adapter. Most likely you have a faulty power jack. It’s either broken or loose. It’s a known issue with laptops and you can fix it by replacing/resoldering the power jack or relocating it outside laptop case.
It also could be a problem with the power cord. Find a multimeter and check the AC adapter. See if the power cuts off when you jiggle the power cord. If it does, replace the adapter.
Second problem: The battery will discharge from 100% to 90% and then jump to 0%. It sounds like a bad battery.
Battery charging light is on even when power adapter is unplugged and laptop is stitched off
Q.The yellow light for battery charging does not go even after switching the laptop off and power jack is disconnected. Battery does not charge at all with power source connected.
A. First of all, try reconnection the battery if you haven’t done it already.
The battery plugs directly into the connector attached to the motherboard. If the battery charging light stay on even when the power adapter is unplugged and the laptop is switched off, it’s either bad battery or something is wrong with the motherboard. The only way to find the culprit is testing the laptop with another known good battery.
Also, you can try this. Remove the battery and plug in the power adapter. If the battery charging LED lights up even when the battery is removed, most likely you have a problem with the motherboard.
Battery charges only when the laptop is off
Q. Bought a Laptop without AC Adapter. I noticed it would charge the battery OK when the laptop was off but once in windows it would not charge the battery.
A. This is very important to choose the right AC adapter for your laptop. The output voltage MUST be exactly the same. If your laptop requires 18.5V you must use 18.5V adapter. The amperage should be the same or higher. If the laptop requires 4.74A adapter, you’ll have to find an adapter which provides 4.74A or MORE.
While using AC adapter alone or battery alone, laptop works. While using them together, I am getting a problem.
Q. While using AC adapter alone or battery alone, laptop works. However while using them together, laptop LED lights blinks and the power meter for battery drops down immediately to 0% critical level, whereas the battery LED indicator says it’s full. I tried to unplug the AC adaptor while it went down to 0%, then the power meter for the battery came back to normal 85%.

If I turn-off the laptop and then charge the battery, it won’t also directly charge but the delay is much shorter (maybe just about 1-2 minutes).
Is this the sign of a bad battery (when hot it can’t be charged?) or maybe a bad AC adapter (not enough power to charge the battery when the laptop is turned on?)
Note that this symptom is always repeating when I use the laptop.
A. From the first part of your complaint description I can see that you have a bad battery. My battery dies very quickly

If your notebook unexpectedly goes into Sleep mode while you are using it but the battery charge is not low, you may need to recalibrate your battery. You should also recalibrate the battery periodically to maintain the accuracy of the battery gauge. Follow these steps to recalibrate the battery.

  1. Connect your notebook to AC power and let the battery charge completely.
  2. Disconnect the AC power and restart your notebook.
  3. Completely discharge the battery.
  4. After the battery is completely drained, reconnect your notebook to AC power.
  5. Charge the battery completely until the battery status indicator turns blue.

Charge battery for zenith dvp615

michelle,

not so familiar with this model but try this:

1) Plug your power adaptor to main unit
2) locate "power on" switch and change it to "off"

after doing this steps you will see a red light which means the unit is charging.

note: for some portable player once the charging is complete this red light changes color either orange or green which means the battery already full charge. but it is adviceable to charge battery for atleast 2hrs.

cheers,

HP laptops power supply

Well, as a rule for electronics:
The United States and Canada use 110-volt electricity.
Most countries outside North America use 220-volt electricity.
Unless your appliance is dual voltage, you need to use a "converter" or a "transformer" to change the 220-volt electricity into 110-volt electricity in order to use a 110-volt appliance.
If your appliance is dual voltage, you can switch it to work on 220-volts, without a transformer or converter.

HOWEVER

Desktop units have a selector switch for 110 / 220 volts., which is done away with in the case of laptop one's which sense the input voltage and regulate accordingly.

I think your main concern is just that you have an adapter for the plug to go into the wall outlet.

Hope that helps :)

IBM T22 Battery won't charge & is not detected

Take it to a very good technician who will open it up and check a dry joint in the charging system.  Sometimes if you donot attend to it quickly you may find your T22 refusing to power at all with the AC Adaptor.  Delicate soldering may solve your problem.  Power may not be getting to the charging circuit and the battery thus it is totaly discharged.
