My BMW 116i SE seems to have a mind of its own, the car is locked and nothing has been left on but the alarm goes off repeatedly sometimes making a noise and others just the lights going off. I replaced the battery a few weeks ago but the problems persisted and now drained the new one. Why is this happening I've had the car a year and the problem has just started over the last couple of months.

SOURCE: BMW X5 Battery Drain.

hello theringbar, I would recommend checking the a/c blower resistor. it is an electronic final stage and can kill the battery overnight. the final stage is located on the passenger side at the back of the a/c heater box.

SOURCE: 5 series Battery drain.

Hi, you will need to remove the passenger side kick panel under the dash then you will be able to see the side of the heater box, you should be able to see a black milti plug with a 2.5mm red and white wire, if you unplug this you will see the casing for the resistor, this just un clips from the heater box and remove, replacement is just the reverse, hope this helps or if you get stuck just ask for more help, mark.

SOURCE: 2003 BMW Car Alarm keeps going off

Hi , you can lock your car without activating the allarm by using the key to lock your car manually ( not the remote ) , the most common alarm fault on this car is the hood switch, if you change this buy one for a bmw Z4 model which is slightly longer and garrentees a contact when the hood is closed, hope this helps regards mark

SOURCE: 2003 BMW 325xi won't start, dashboard and radio go on.

My 2003 325xi died on the highway a few weeks ago, and I thought it was the battery. It turned out to be the alternator, which was an expensive problem to repair. If your battery is new, it could be the alternator, or a problem with the electrical system. I find the BMWs to be too complicated electrically, which often leads to problems! I'd check your alternator...

2002 BMW 540I ALARM GOES OFF ALL THE TIME BY ITSELF

Have the dealer keep the car and run a scan test on the security system while this alarm issue is occurring, then they can pinpoint the cause of the false activation of the system. That problem will likely be one of the door latch sensors is failing.

Hi my 2006 x5 4.4l , recently the alarm the flasher lights goes off while its parking, sometimes it happans twice a day or sometimes once every three to four days, can anyone help please?

hi bayan,

There are numerous inputs that are monitored for BMW anti theft deterrent system. All the door locks, interior sensor, hood switch, and inclination sensor can cause the alarm to set off. I would recommend making sure all your door locks are working correctly. Next I would check under the hood and make sure the hood switch is not broken or out of adjustment. I think usually the switch can be located on the plastic cowling in the vicinity near the driver side strut tower. When you find the hood switch, you can just unplug it for testing purposes. Leave it unplugged for a while and see if you still have a problem. If nothing seems apparent you can always have the system scanned to see what faults are stored in the control unit's memory.

Anti theft alarm goes off after locking the car, this happens after about a minute after locking on my 2006 vw jetta

This is a clue, not a solution. It happens with my 1998 Jetta GT the same way, same delay. The condition comes and goes intermittently, and seems related to the trunk lock. There's a switch operated by the trunk key lock. I think that's where the problem lies. I can go for days with no problem, but sometimes after I have opened the trunk, when I lock the car the alarm goes off a minute later. Nothing will change it except opening and closing the trunk, but not every time.
