Take the battery out and try powering on your computer only with the power cord plugged in
if the computer turns on then
this is the problem with the battery
you need to replace the battery

Have you tried to boot the laptop with the battery out and just the charger plugged in. Most dell laptops will power on without battery and just charger give it a try.

Let me know if this helps

If you can find a compatible one it should work but if your laptop is under warranty you might be able to get one from dell. Also the compatible one usually don't last as long. To help extend the battery you should unplug the power and let the battery run all the way down at least once a week.

Plugged in, not charging

First, try another charger. Perhaps your charger isn't providing enough volts to the laptop

The ac port in my dell inspiron is broken so the charger pin isn't connecting to it and the laptop wont turn on because the battery is dead and i cant bother to buy a new solder cause im not from

A) You don't want to take the laptop apart.

B) You don't have the money to have it repaired.

C) Keep going like you are with fiddling with it, and you'll smoke the AC adapter (Charger), and Power MOSFET's on the motherboard.

What !O_O! sort of 'miracle cure' are you expecting?

If you wish to correctly repair the laptop, this is the place.

Rig it so it works temporarily, and maybe permanently damages it?

Suggest go to another website.

You're going to need one of these, and connect it's alligator clip to a good ground source,

Doesn't have to be from that store. It's just an example.
Average cost is $3 to $6.

I have a dell inspiron 1545. i have the charger plugged in but a red light is flashin on my laptop. this light then turns white and immediately red again.if i remove the charger the laptop just switches...

Probably battery, although that should be orange not red..
Remove battery and try it on AC alone, if that works, it was a damaged battery halting the process
If it does not, check the charger's tightness in the charging port, if sloppy or loose, this will need replacing.

Some Dell's are VERY picky about the charger, if not the exact model specified, they will not charge the battery

If none of the above, remove battery and test with another Dell charger of the same spec, if this also fails to work and you are sure the light is red, you have a problem with the motherboard. Commonly the charger power board fails on these.

My Inspiron 1545 turns off when I unplug it from adapter, and when plugged in, the power light on front flashes four times orange and one time white repeatedly.

Does the battery for dell inspiron 1545 plug in. It maybe because the battery pack is too hot ,you can turn off the laptop, let the pc notebook and the laptop battery both cooled down. Then try turn on it to see. If still happen to the matter,it must because the wrong turn off did harm to your Inspiron 1545 laptop adapter.

My dell 1545 inspiron wont operate on the battery works fine on charger and battery icon shows 100% and charging but as soon as power removed laptop immediately powers down. physically measured battery...

I think that if it's 100% it should say that it's fully charged. There could be something wrong there.

My computer blinks with a red icon on the printer saying that the it's recommended the battery be replaced when the battery goes bad. It shows 100% charge as well.

I just got a 9 cell battery off of Ebay for my Acer Aspire that lasts 3 or 4 hours and is a little big, but fits the contacts and locks on.

Dell inspiron 1545 won't boot turn on start up

Unseat and reseat the memory in the laptop one stick at a time in each slot one at a time. Turn on the laptop after each reseat of memory.

If that doesn't work then take out the hard drive and then the dvd drive.

Turn the laptop on again and if you still can't get video on the screen then the motherboard is defective and would need to be replaced.
