These speakers may have a problem - connect them to another computer and see if you get the same results. You're right, these speakers should be loud since they do have a built-in amplifier. They might be defective.

OK, it's more likely a defective set - take it back to the store and get another. These should have a year warranty.

Okay I have a 2008 MacBook and my boyfriend bought me the Bose Companion #2 Speakers and the speakers sound out of phase when I up the volume. It sounds horrible from a different room you can even hear it...

Hi.
I would get an external sound card running on either USB (minimum 2.2) or firewire. I have had problems with mac audio ports. M-audio make a good range and so do ION. You need a stereo 2 in 2 out minimum (no need to overspend unless you plaun on starting a home recording or video project).
I would check to make sure there is no kind of phase switch on the speakers in anyway first though.

Samsung TV and Bose Campanion 3 speakers

Are these PC speakers? OF so you need a stereo RCA to min-jack cable, assuming the TV has a set of RCA audio outputs.

Bass rattling on Bose Companion 2

My Companion 2 speakers were having the same problem with the rattling on certain frequencies and I am happy to say that Steve Allison was correct in my case. The speakers don't handle surround settings very well so if you're running your speakers through a source that had that setting turned on the easiest way to stop the rattling is to just turn the surround setting off. The speakers weren't really made to handle that kind of a signal.

Loud hum when Bose Companion 3 Series II speakers are turned on.

I had the same problem for many months. I asked a sound & video professional and he suggested I move the subwoofer away from any power source. I had the subwoofer next to my UPS. Once separated and moved all wiring away from the power supply (about 12") the low bass hum was practically gone.

Bose Companion II Computer Speaker: The AC power adapter burnt

My puppy chewed through the cord for my a/c adapter, I just took the speakers into Circuit City, and they found me a workable replacement (the replacement isn't BOSE, but it works just fine).  Hope that helps!

Left speaker sometines has no sound? Please help

I bought a set of Bose companion 3 speakers and the darn RCA jacks are cheap and wiggling loose. The cost to send back and repair out of warranty is about $125!! BOSE companion speakers may sound good, but for my money, I'd rather go with more reliable computer speaker systems like Creative or Logitech. BOSE IS WAY TO OVER-RATED, but HEY....they suckered ME out of $275!!!
