SOURCE: 5 different colored vertical lines on black and white picture.

Hello wisportsfan2,

Try the following first:

If you are using a direct cable connection from the wall outlet;

  1. Check the incoming cable or antenna signal connection to ensure that it is properly secured to the TV's antenna input.
  2. If the connection is good, perform the auto program and ensure that the Installation mode (Antenna or Cable) is selected correctly.
If you are using a coaxial connection from the Cable or Satellite box to the TV;
  1. Set the TV to the channel specified by the service provider.
  2. Change the channels at the Cable or Satellite box to view the program.
If you are using a video connection (CVBS, S-Video, YPbPr, HDMI) from the source (DVD, Cable or Satellite box) to the TV;
  1. You do not need to perform auto program to search for the channels.
  2. Press the 'SOURCE' button on the remote control repeatedly to select the correct input source.
If you are using an HDMI connection from the source (DVD, Cable or Satellite box) to the TV;
  1. Reset the TV and source by unplugging it from the power outlet for 30 seconds.
  2. Press the play button on your source device. If the source is HDMI CEC compliant, the TV will automatically switch to the HDMI input.
  3. If your source is not HDMI CEC compliant, turn on the TV and switch to the HDMI input.
  4. Turn on your source.
If you are sure you have selected the correct input or channel but still have no picture and sound;
  1. Try resetting the TV by unplugging it from the power outlet for 30 seconds.
  2. Press the 'SOURCE' button to select the correct input source.
You can try the "Whack" method first though..Just smack or whack the set with your hand or fist around the cabinet to see if that will either aggravate or restore the picture. If so, it means there is a loose connection or cold solder joint of some kind, which you may be able to repair yourself if you have the soldering skills.

If it still does not work, it looks like there is a problem with the vertical blanking due to faulty ribbon connectors, although there are several things that can cause it.
But in my honest opinion, it is best to have an expert technician come in and do some tests on it in order to diagnose the root cause of the issue. It is not easy to fix this yourself, if you have no experience, as there are a lot of parts that have to be removed before you can reach the components. It could be as simple as a loose connector ribbon or a bust capacitor, but it could also be more complicated. Hence, in my honest opinion, better get a qualified technician.

SOURCE: no picture/intermitten picture

I just got through explaining this to someone else - the HDCP encryption system that Philips uses is not future-proof - you will continue to have this problem as long as you use an HDMI connection with a Philips TV. My advice, which you can take or leave, is to use Component (Red, Green and Blue) cables. you won't get 1080p, but you will get 1080i, which is pretty close.

SOURCE: Phillips 50PF9431D/37: Perfect Picture, inuadible audio

The audio or sound IC (integrated Circuit) on the TV panel maybe bad and need to be replaced.
Also, the speakers of the TV may have a weak connection from inside the panel.
But my best bet is the first solution i gave. If u are not a qualified electronics technician then take it to a service centre.

You have to turn up the volume to 38+ in order to hear the TV, when you use to be able to hear it at 10, is there a control board that goes out and what Is the name of it?

Hi Geoff, I hope I can help you with this. If you are using an accessory device (DVD, DVR) check cables to see that they are secure and if device has audio out option that it is set correctly. Also check to see that Video and Audio cables are connected to matching inputs on your set.
If you are using DVI to HDMI you will need to use a separate digital audio cable. DVI cables do not carry audio signal. After attaching the audio cable if you still do not hear sound you may need to set Digital Audio In. To do so:
  1. Press Menu Button on remote.
  2. Press the cursor ring down to highlight SETUP.
  3. Press the cursor ring left to enter SETUP menu.
  4. Press the cursor ring down to highlight SOURCE.
  5. Press the cursor ring left to enter SOURCE menu.
  6. Press the cursor ring down to highlight DIGITAL AUDIO IN.
  7. Press the cursor ring down to select the source you want to associate Digital Audio with. HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 in this case. You might need a software update also.
The latest software solves the issues below:
    1. TV (Plasma 42" and 50") will not turn ON/shut off itself and Red LED blinks 4- times. Recover if main switch on/off.
    2. 37" LCD full white screen appear when upgrade software.
    3. Some channels not available after turn ON.
    4. Delta volume changes, not remembered.
    5. Preferred channel changes, not remembered.
    6. Green or yellow static (sometime snowy) on HDMI picture.
    7. Picture and sound loss for 5 to 10 sec (green LED is still ON) and back to normal.
    8. Audio loss in all inputs and can be recovered when main switch ON and OFF.
    9. TV set turn ON by itself/ green LED light up and goes off when set is ON.
    10. Intermittent audio loss in NTSC RF channel.
    11. Crack sound with high input signal.
    12. Include the possibility to download the rating table (RRT5 capability) for digital programs.
    13. No video/ no picture with sound.
    14. Intermittent On-Screen Menu pop up by itself and can be removed by pressing the 'MENU' button.
    15. Channel information display too long.
    16. Improvement on scramble channel.
How to check the current software version on my TV set?
    1. Press 'MENU' button on remote control to display the on-screen menu.
    2. Select TV MENU and press the cursor right.
    3. Select INSTALLATION and press the cursor right.
    4. Select SOFTWARE UPGRADE and press cursor right.
    5. Select CURRENT SOFTWARE INFO to display the current software version on your TV set.
    6. If the TV software version is lower than the version posted on the website means your TV set needs to be upgraded.
    7. Follow the instruction in the user manual or Firmware Upgrade Readme file on how to upgrade your software.
Where can I find the latest software for my TV set?
The Firmware Upgrade Software and Readme File documents can be found on the Philips support website. Refer to the SOFTWARE section.

How can I adjust the picture colors?

There are several performance issues you may encounter with your Protron PLTV-37C LCD television.
Some problems include the television not turning on, issues with the TV's picture and issues with the TV's sound.
Depending on the type of problem you encounter, there are several options available to you to solve it.
Power Issues
Check the TV's main power cord. If it is not plugged in or is loose, securely plug it in to an electrical socket.
Unplug the television and plug it in to another electrical socket.
If the one it is plugged in to currently is bad, the television does not receive power.

Try turning the television on with the remote.
If that does not work, try turning the television on with the power button on the TV's front panel.
If that works, then remove the battery cover from the remote.
Remove the current batteries and replace them with fresh batteries.
Picture Issues
Check the video cables.
If they are loose or disconnected, securely connect them.
Adjust the television's brightness.
If the brightness is set too dark, images on the screen are extremely difficult to see.
Check the power indicator on the front panel of the television.
If it is red, the television is in power-saving mode.
Simply press any button on the remote to bring the television out of power-saving mode.
Audio Issues
Check the audio cables. If they are loose or disconnected, securely reconnect them.
Turn to different channels and adjust the volume.
It is possible that some channels are coming in quieter than others.
Access the audio options from the main menu. Check what audio setting the TV is at.
If it is set to "Mono," change it to "Stereo."

I am not getting picture on my TV it stic on only one channel we are chengiong channel but same sound is comming also we are getting a blue coloured K on right hand side of TV

That blue K means you are in the service mode. Unplug your set and wait 30 seconds. Then at the same time you plug it back in, you need to be holding the volume down button and the input button.
The TV should turn back and the blue K should turn pink. Once this happens, press the volume and channel down button at the same time. A menu should come on the screen. With your remote, press the up arrow to reach the nest page. The first option should say INIT. Arrow to the right and hit enter. In a few seconds your screen should turn green and say success. Unplug the TV and wait 30 seconds. Plug the set back in and turn on your TV. You can then set your set back the way you want.

Samsung TV - have sound/auto volume set to on. When TV is turned off and then on, tv volume is extremely low. Go back to sound menu, it shows "on" but if you go back and act like you are turning in on, the...

Hello Blindrid,
What I would suggest you do is Press your MENU button on the tv remote, Then down to SOUND and then Turn the AUTO VOLUME to OFF. Then come out of the menu screen.
Just to check that it has all work correctly. turn you volume upto a certain number for example 25
Then turn your TV off the turn it back on. Wait until it is displaying a picture then press the volume button Once either up or down and you should see that it will go to 24 or 26 depending on what button you pressed for the volume. This will keep your volume set to whatever you had it on before you turned the tv off.

Hope this Helps Please leave a thumbs up.

Cheers

The remote doesn't effect the channels, I would say you have poor signal or interference from another device nearby.

Stuck on channel 2, "No Signal" and snow

Two things may be at play here. The tv might be only programmed for reception on channel 2 and will need to be re programmed to receive other channels.
Also try some basic troubleshooting on the remotes. Start with the remote that came with the tv. Replace the batteries try the "MENU" button. If you can get into the menu try to "autoprogram" the TV
