My singer sewing machine (its a scholastic, model 717) is making a clicking noise when I change the dials to make it a zig zag stich it starts to click. It seems to be coming from the white notched wheel and a metal piece that is catching on the wheel. What do I doo>?? PLEASE HELP?!
Remove the needle , tighten the needle set screw so the clamp doesn't rattle and run the machine. This will give you a better idea of where the noise originates. Remove the top cover and put a drop of sewing machine oil(not 3 in 1 oil) on anyplace that moves and rubs. Run the machine again and see if you still have the noise. Replace the top cover. Open the side cover(left side) put a drop of oil on any thing that moves or rubs(Shafts or joints). Run the machine again. Remove the bottom cover and repeat the above processes. If you still have the problem and it is bothering either you or the machine then it needs to be seen by a technician. sewman7
