If it is the yellow floating lantern you have to remove the black plastic stub on the underside of the reflector using needlenose pliers to wiggle and slightly pull until it releases and the bulb will come out.

This worked great! Eveready should have this as one of their FAQs.

How to change batteries in A Eveready FAB4DCM

had a quick look online and found this is a museum piece.

Called a Dolphin torch, I remember these from the '80s and had to replace the batteries too often to ever want to do it again.
The front unlocks by rotating 1/4 turn. The batteries are a 6V sealed lead acid cell and now cost more than a new modern torch with a Li-ion cell. You will need a 6V charger if the battery can be recharged and unlikely if its old and discharged for long time.

How do I get to the bulb?

Unscrew the head assembly. In the back of the assembly is a small plastic nut. Unscrew this and the bulb should fall out into your hand.

How do I change the bulb of the 6V Eveready Lantern if bulb won't come out

Drop a couple of drops of WD 40 on the bulb retaining ring. Let site overnight and in the morning it will easily unscrew. Note: be sure you use only a couple of drops as you don't want to get it on the reflective lense

How to fix the switch on eveready lantern flashlight

The switch in the lantern is a press fit switch so you will destroy it when you remove it. Remove the lense and retainer ring. Remove the battery. With a pair of pliers, preferably channel lock water pump pliers crush the switch into small piece and discard. Trail Tech makes the exact water resistant switch model 040-ls-b and you can get it at Amazon or on eBay . The switch runs around $6.25 + $4.00 shipping

To test a flashlight bulb you use an Ohm meter which will detect a broken filament or an open circuit within the bulb. If the bulb is bad it will read "OL" if it's good it will read "00.0"

How to connect a spring pole 6v battery

Inside the case of the light, there will be 1 wire with a tapered notched connector. Take the connector with the low end of the taper and push it into the negative (-) spring (in between the coils ) of the battery. The spring will wedge the connector it one of the notches and will hold it securely. Reattach the lense carefully seating the end of the bulb onto the positive (+) spring of the battery.

I have bought a new 6volt battery for my dolphin but can't work out how to replace it.

The bezel (the circular portion on the front of the flashlight that holds the bulb and lens) will unscrew. The old battery should slide right out.

Hope this helps.
