Hi, There should be a little actuating rod poking down from the roof of the bucket chamber which contacts the bucket-float at one end and a microswitch at the other. The microswitch
must be activated to make the compressor and fan run.
Check this if you can to see whether this rod or lever is present, absent, lying on the floor or just plain stuck. If it is stuck in the "full" position then you'll probably have found the problem.

You have to be sure bucket is replaced exactly where it should go or the bucket will hold the switch in, thinking it is full. If you have a floor drain close by,remove the bucket and set the dehumidifier over or next to drain so water will go down it,then you don't worry about bucket getting full.If it doesn't run with bucket off, maybe defective switch. unhook wires to the bucket switch and hook or tape together,if dehumidifier runs then switch is bad. UNPLUG FROM OUTLET BEFORE DOING THIS. IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ELECTRICITY GET QUALIFIED HELP!!
Sounds like your float is stuck in the full position, or the sensor that shows full is stuck on full.
If tank is empty but shows full, problem lies where full signal is coming from.
In the water bucket is a float assm. scale forms on the assm. and causes it to stick. Remove the float assm. and carefully remove the scale. Should start working again once done. If not you may have to replace it.
This is generally causes by improperly installing the water collection bucket after removing it to empty it. Or the float valve in the top ow the water bucket s stuck in the "UP" position. Some Maytag models have a float control that moves from left to right, depending on how much water you want it to collect, before having to empty it. It may be stuck in the center position and needs to be moved left or right.
When installing the bucket, be sure that it fits into the holder "squarely" from top to bottom and makes contact with the bucket removal safety switch at the back of the bucket holder. When installed properly, the bucket should not tilt down at the bottom.
Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.
Sue, if you haven't noticed any water draining from the hose recently, it may be that the hose connection and tubing of the unit are clogged and the drained water pressure is causing the unit to show "Bucket Full." Also, if the bucket is not properly in place, whether you use the drain hose or not, it will cause the unit to stop functioning. You know how to correct that, so I won't go into detail on that issue.
To unclog the drain, you will need an 18" long, plastic Zip Tie or something similar (NO wire coat hangers though) that will fit into the hose connection. TURN THE UNIT OFF AND UNPLUG IT. Then carefully insert the Zip Tie and continue to push it in until you reach the bend in the tubing. You will have to carefully work it past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Now, while rotating it, slowly pull it out and be prepared for some water to follow.
Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem.
Try reinserting the bucket, making sure that it's positioned properly. So that the safety switch is engaged. If that still doesn't solve the problem. Turn the MASTER ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit from the wall outlet. Wait 12 - 15 minutes and plug the unit back in. Turn the MASTER ON/OFF Switch to ON and hopefully, if the bucket is positioned properly, the unit will have reset itself.
Hope this helps you to solve the problem. Please let me know.
The water tank is either full or not positioned correctly. Empty the tank and/or make sure it is positioned correctly (should fit perfectly and not bump out from rest of unit).
If you have it connected to the drain directly, your tank may still be filling up unless you have the PUMP button pressed (and PUMP is showing in the LED screen).
It should resart on its own after putting the empty bucket back in. The beep is to let you know that the bucket full and it shuts off the humidifier until the bucket is emptied and put back into the proper position.
