Lift the handle to open the k-cup holder and then close it back up. The coffee mug lights should begin to blink for you.

SOURCE: unit will not brew when pod is inserted; works w/o pod however.

This may be one of two issues:
1. The pump is malfunctioning which can cause the internal reservior to not completely fill which causes issues during brewing. My unit dribbled random amounts of water instead of brewing for about a week before the pump died completely.
2. The puncture seal isn't in the right position. Open the Keurig fully so you can see the sharp puncture pin. Very Carefully push the black rubber gasket around it all the way up. Then pull it back down about 1/16". Brew a cup, if the problem continues, try sliding the gasket further down by increments of 1/32".

SOURCE: Does not always brew

I just fixed mine. Remove the reservoir and unplug the unit. Open up the bottom by removing the 5 screws in the base. Find the part of the intake hose directly under the reservoir. Two screws hold it in, so remove them. Pull the black plastic cover back from the clear silicone receiver. There is a black plastic filter inside the silicone. Pull it out. It is probably filled with goop. Use a toothbrush to scrub that stuff out, top and bottom. Replace the black filter, flat side first. Replace the cover and screws, the the screws on the base. This works like magic. I have taken mine apart three times to try to see what was wrong, but nothing worked until this fix.

It goes through all the cycles but no hot water comes out. Unit is two months old.

Have you tried brewing with no k-cup in the unit? If water comes out then the needle that punctures the bottom of the kcup needs to be cleared out. I use a paper clip and put it into the kcup holder where the puncture needle is. I move it up and down the hole until cleared out.

After brewing a cup, lights are flashing and it needs to be unplugged to reset to brew

It's time to descale your brewer. Run a full reservoir of pure white vinegar through, and then a full reservoir of water, "brewing" and dumping one cup at a time. You might have to do two reservoirs of vinegar if you've never rescaled it before.

All of a sudden my mom's Keuring B40 won't make a full cup of coffee.

Mine started to do that about a month ago. I would have to brew multiple "cups" just to fill one coffee cup. I ran several cycles of the largest cup, without any K-cups, to clean out the small metal spout. After about 3 hot-water cycles, it worked fine. I do this periodically, as I don't use the Keurig daily, so some of the residue builds up between uses.

No suction

Run vinegar through it.

Sometimes they have a temp sensor in them which won't allow them to function again until they've cooled off. So try really cold water.

Sometimes it will only brew half a cup of coffee and you can hear the water dripping back into the reservoir while it is brewing.

How do you drain a Keurig b40 coffee maker?

Empty the water reservoir and put back on the side of the Kurig. Put your hand in the reservoir and slide the disc that monitors the water level back toward the top and and hold in that position, the machine will think there is water. Then put a cup under the head and select a cup. The water will come out. You must hold the disc up inside the reservoir to continue to get the water out.
