You need to hold the power button for about 5 seconds to turn it on. If that does not turn it on. Then you need to run a check on some of the components of the device. You start with the battery, then charger and the device seem to be working fine, because when you plug it in, the device amber lights come on. It is supposed to turn green when it is fully charged, but it seems like the battery is not holding a charge, that is why it is not turning green.
Test another well charged battery inside the device to see if it will power on and work properly, if it does, then it means all you have to do is to replace the battery, but if it does not power it on, then it means there is an internal problem with the unit.
Try to connect it to a computer to see if it will detect it. Once it detects it, try to charge in on there for some time to see if it will hold a charge there.
If it is properly charged, it will be able to power on fully. Also check the device on the computer to see if the software and files are still on the unit. That should also assist you in solving the problem.
Hope this information helped you.
Hi - I am so grateful that someone has replied - Other forums - NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE. Once again thank you. I apologise now though BUT .... WHERE WILL I FIND THE BATTERY??? Gosh that makes me sound a little stupid but as you can tell I am a total newbie to all of these new devices!! :(
I also wanted to let you know that on downloading all the software from the installation cds that came with this sat nav and plugging it to my PC it did not recognise or pick up the device whatsoever (wondering if this is because it won't switch on????). The problem isn't the cable I know this cos it picks up mobile, i pod etc.
I really look forward to hearing back.
Many Many Thanks once again
My dear friend, there is nothing to feel stupid about when you are working on a new device. You are just being sincere unlike some who claim to know but they do not. If you look around your device you will see the space where the battery is, then you look around it to see the clip to shift to be able to access the battery. If your PC is not reading the device it is because the device is not powering on and the computer cannot charge it, so it will not power it on in any way, therefore, once you can fix the battery problem, then you will be able to solve the problem on ground.

OK so sorry to be coming back to you I am a COMPLETE newbie to this sort of device!!! :( - WHERE is the battery????? Gosh that makes me sound silly but I honestly do not know where this would be found. There does not seem to be an area where I can open up and see a battery. Also to answer a question posed - I tried plugging it onto my pc (Windows XP) and have downloaded all the programs that came on the install disc but my PC isn't recognising the device at all (it recognises other devices - mobile phone etc).
Look forward to hearing from you
Many Many Thanks
