Purchesed download for magellan western canada map and cannot download to my triton 400 gps

This is possibly an issue with the software the gps uses to work. You could try doing a Firmware update by connecting it to a computer and going to the Magellan website to access the update.

The serial number for the Magellan Triton 400 is located under the battery compartment cover

This problem is most caused by two possible errors. One the maps were not prepared correctly.

Two your navigation settings are wrong. Please reset the datum to WGS84 and see if this helsp.

Sounds like you need some Canada TOPO maps for your units. The Jungle Ghost Store has them at www.jungleghost.com/shopping_cart.shtml

Rod .. please make sure that your settings MENU>>VIEW>>SETTINGS>>Navigation match the datum of your maps.

OK .. you could have many possible causes. The most likely is that the magellan drivers are not installed on your computer. If you installed Vantage Point you will find them under the c:\magellan drivers folder.

Now without Vantage Point being on just connect the GPS to the computer and turn it on. Then open up the device manager on your computer and you will see a PORT COM(number). Click on the properties and see if the device driver is enabled and working.

If it is not.. then uninstall the present driver and reinstall from your computer by pointing to the c:\magellan drivers folder.

The drivers are in the directory c:\Magellan Drivers. If they are absent .. then you need to reinstall Vantage Point.

Bad News.. somehow you corrupted the internal software of the GPS. If the unit is in warranty, please return it to Magellan

The RED X is a symbol when the maps you have do not match the serial number of the GPS you are trying to run them on. You have to use the Adventure Pack and create NEW MAPS with the present GPS attached.

magellan has a big problem in the past with the Canada Value Pack. It did not work with the Triton. It was only made to work with the older Magellan GPS units.

Best to contact Magellan and see if they will give you a new one.
