I keep buying new tapes, but the same thing happens again and again, that it say's eject tape and will not go down !
I had the same problem with my ZR200. It would not accept the tape, even a new one. I happened on this site and read about 20 comments from people who had the same problem. They all solved it the same way. You close camera's LCD screen and turn that side face down. Next you place your left hand under that side, close your right fist and gently slap the top side(cassette side) of the camera with the bottom of your fist. It worked for me the first time and now works GREAT! I had called a repair shop who told me to bring it in for repair and then I was looking on the internet for a replacement camera when I happened upon this site. Yes, I do believe in miracles! Good Luck.
What happened with my camera just all of a sudden happened, and it would not allow me to even put in my tape. I would put it in and close the door but it wouldn't **** in or load, just said "eject cassette" i tried different tapes but nothing worked until i tried slapping it. It then was able to pull the tape in all the way and try to read it, but then i started to hear this revving sound, like a motorcycle engine. and tried the slap again, but nothing was happening. When i tried to play the tape i could see a quick flash of video, about a 1/8 of a second, which i thought could be another problem. I also tried the reset, where you take off the battery pack and the reserve battery, then toggle from vcr to play then to off, and still didn't see any results. About to give up, i tried smacking it and praying, and after a few more hits the camera started working again. I'm not sure if it was God or the fact that i just hit it one more time but it worked that time. From what i read on forums around the internet, the "slap" technique helps jar mechanisms that become stuck over time.
Close the tape area (empty) and slap the tape side of the cassette a few time and then try. If not, repeat. (I found this on another thread & it works!). It tooks slapping it two rounds, but it worked for us!
All I can say is that it works! I teach at a high school and I just fixed 3 cameras with the "hit the camera" technique. It seems to work on various Canon cameras. The Cameras I fixed were the ZR500 and Elura 65. Very Bizarre. Sometimes you have to keep thumping it. One camera took 7 tries.
I would of never believed it but, it worked!!!

I tried the slap and that Definitely worked to get the tape into the camera, but now the camera will not play the tape or import on my computer (using iMovie on a Macbook). It seems to try, by making a revving noise. Any Solutions?
I have the same problem. The slap hasn't worked...Although i was a little hesitant to do this.I have a different model mine is MV830i and is only 3 years old
I have a ZR70MC and have the same problem, the tape goes in but will not close and go back into the camera. After reading other comments on the "Slap" method I have proceeded to beat the living holy hanna out of my camera for the last hour to no avail! So are there any other ideas now that my hand is numb??
Thanks
