Is your pc volume turned up, if so you say you had your pc fixed did they do an upgrade or anything like that if so then they may have altered your sound settings or not even installed the sound drivers.
first check that the sound is on and the speakers are plugged into the correct socketon the pc,
If this is ok then check to make sure your drivers are nstalled and using the sound card you have installed you will have to goto control panel then double click on the sound button check to make sure making sure your speakers are enabled, And check your properties you shouls see your sound card listed in the properties section.
right mouse click on speaker icon in system tray , select recording devices and set to microphone, make sure it isn't muted if you want to hear yourself
first right click on the speaker symbol in the lower right startup toolbar and click on the open volume controls tab. make sure nothing is turned down or muted. if all is well there i would suggest trying another set of speakers first and if theres still no sound, buy a sound card and install it along with the drivers cd that comes with it.
open media player
then click tools then options and file types make sure all file types are checked
then click devices to see that your speakers are in there
Thats where you'll find all media settings
Or if you have an older version i would upgrade to player 9 or 11
Have you tried to raise the volume by double clicking on the speaker icon on your taskbar. This will open the play control panel where you can raise the volume.
If you do not see the speaker icon, go into your control panel and chose sounds and audio devices and raise the volume from that screen.
