give it cleaning tape >>> once it finishs cleaning it will eject cleaning tape then you will be able to put any other taps

the only way is to open the tape drive to pullout the cartridge and tape.

you could try opening the drive and delicately untagle the tape (with tweesers) dispose of the tap as it will get stuck again

Because the DAT72 can copy 72GB with 2:1 compressed, and it's native capability is 36GB in the most. So you can try to copy less than 30GB data to it or try to enable the drive's compress mode.

Perform the cleaning action using a new cleaning tape. It is not recommended to clean the tape over and over again, if the cleaning light is still ON. Contact the vendor and get it sorted out.

Have never heard fo "alignment" tape. If you can explain a little more, I can find it for you.
