Check the Power Option Settings. It is possible to change the setting to turn the screen off when on mains power, why I don't quite know! Right click on the battery icon and follow the links.

Wait Black Screen? AFTER you changed the fan... hmmm... I think I know what the problem is. Okay solution one; You might of hit a wire or cord in the computer when you changed out the fan. Two: You might have the virus 223, get it fixed and it should be going again! Hoped this helped! :D
What do you mean not charge?? If you have the AC cord in and the battery out will the laptop turn on with out the battery? If so your battery is dead and this is a common issue.
I suggest contacting IBM or finding one on ebay as they are much cheaper!
Are the activity lights blinking like the computer is doing something? If so the monitor may be disconnected from the unit or damaged. If so this is a pc repair issue, and a little tricky to do on your own.
Right click on te screen and click on properity in the screensaver tab check the power setting to make sure it is not set to hibernate if so un check the boxs and check the shutdown time
You have a TFT failure - to confirm if it is not m/board related plug and external monitor to the external vga port and boot the unit. If the display to the external is ok then your TFT requires replacement.
I beleive that you may need a splitter, I think it may be called a convergance splitter to work with the program. Check with the manufacturer support for the program. They should be able to tell you if a splitter is needed.
Can you describe the display problem that you refer to? While it is possible that the motherboard is the problem, without knowing details of the problem it is hard to say how to fix it.
