Which issue did you use these parts to resolve with your HCN653W? Mine powers up for ~3-5s, the CRTs come up and the screen is up but misaligned, then shuts off. The Convergence amplifier ICs were replaced, but still the same symptoms.

Is there a surround sound hook up on this model of TV ? there are red lines in my Tv what is trhe problem

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

My Samsung HCN653W 65-Inch Widescreen Projection HD-Ready TV has a 3d like picture when it has been on a hour it goes back to normal

All projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video or dead set) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. In some cases the TV will also not show any video. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D, wavy, or has a shadow or shadows
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Mainboard

What exactly is the problem with the set? Why not just fix the board that is in there? Usually, only a lightning strike that completely burns up the board or a coolant leak from one of the picture tubes that covers the board and corrodes through the parts and traces are the only reasons to replace a board. Explain exactly what you see or exactly what is wrong and we will help you from there.

Samsung hcn653w power surge

If the set went dead during a storm and will not power up at all, first try unplugging the set and waiting an hour or so, and then plug it back in to a working outlet and try turning it on. If the set still will not respond, your power supply has stopped working and should be serviced by a qualified tech familiar with Samsung projection sets.

Samsung HCN653W Transport

the bottom stand seperates from the top screen portion. On the side under the top potion you will see 4 black phillips head screws on each side. Remove those. Also there is a small access panel on the right side ( if your facing the tv ). There are 2 screws there, remove them , and look inside , you will see 3 plugs. Unplug them. Once you have done all this, have someone help you and lift the top portion off.
