You may need the Lenovo one key recovery download, the one for windows 7 may work with windows 8 ? There is not a one key downloadable driver for windows 8 on your system the one offered for windows 7 is available in 32 or 64 bit. The power profile for your device sleep wake ect can be adjusted through windows power management it may also need to be adjusted through the nvidia soft ware if it has nvidia graphics. All your troubles would be present if you re installed an OS or upgraded if so there may be several missing drivers ect.
Make sure you Press and Hold the FN key then hit the key that increases or decreases the volume. If the FN key is not held down while you press the volume keys, they will do nothing. The brightness works the same way, you must Press and Hold the FN key then hit the key that controls the brightness.

You can use the Fn+F3 Keys to decrease and Fn+F4 Keys to increase the Volume. If the Audio is not working after increasing the Volume using the Function Keys, please try re-installing the Audio Driver in the Computer to fix this issue.
Please download the file, double click on it to begin the installation and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. After installing the Audio Driver, please restart the Computer for the settings to take the effect.
This should fix the issue.
Good Luck!

- Install Windows 7 - let it update all the drivers that it needs to - Install additional Sony drivers that you need (XP drivers work just fine, but make sure to install them in Administrator mode, so, Run as Administrator), such as camera, fingerprint scanner, etc - Install the Notebook Control Device Driver (without this the other software does nothing) - Sony Utilities DLL - Sony Shared Library
* restart computer *
- Sony Video Shared Library - SUS (Setting Utility Series)
* restart computer *
- VES (VAIO Event Service)
After this one the Fn keys will start to work. The S1 and S2 keys don't work due to something to do with UAC (but I don't need them anyway)
- VAIO Control Centre (will allow you to change what the S1 and S2 keys do, even though you can't use them :) )
